Hey all!
I won't be able to get a big bike until the end of June, Planned to do my Direct Access rather than just doing my test now, So I'm using this time to make sure I choose the right bike!
At first I was looking at the CBR 600RR like I'm sure alot of people do, But I'll only have 1 years NCB, I'd be 21 and so the insurance will be high, And I pay over the top for mine as it is.
So I was looking at the Honda Hornet (600), Even the much older ones look very nice and come up at a good price, What are all your thoughts and suggestions?

Depending on your riding style and how you feel your fun will be delivered.

I know me buying a 'Sit -Up' bike I would get bored very easy. I suggest you test ride a few different styles and you will get a feel for them.

Usually 1hr on the bike does the job for how they feel, after coming from a Rs125 alot of weight was on my wrists. Now owning the SV it's taken off and I feel alot more confident in the power delivery and my ablity to controll the bike.

I feel from you riding the CBR (Fairing + Screen) a sit up bike would do your head in. Test ride a few (Vlog on each one maybe) and let us know how you feel.

Bearin'mind, you will be riding that bike so it's all down to how you feel on the bike. :)

Ooo a vlog, Do I dare lol
Thanks for the input, Never been 21 before  so if I goto a dealer I could just go in and test ride a bike?

When I did it, They asked for a Debit Card & Both Parts of my licence. I filled out some paperwork and rode off for a couple of hours.

CBB & Extreme601 on here have done one recently, they know what they will want, I test rode mine last year so don't know if it's changed or not.

But it's worth either, test riding or sitting on as many as possible.

& Also depends on if you want a 250,400,600,650,750 < Many more between them but all depends on what you want to get on next aswell.

Basically all Orwell in Ipswich wanted was to copy our licenses and we had to sign to pay the first £1k of any damage. However, this was during a sponsored kawasaki test ride event, so it may be different normally.

Hope that helps at least a little, and i must put in a good word for the bandit at this point!

Almost identical situation as I was, and went for CBR600 FS. Best bike ever :D Complete compromise between flat out sport bike and being comfy, but a fantastic first big bike easily capable of noob or expert riders, and insurance was cheap.

You've obviously not spent any seat time on a Triumph Street or Speed Triple!

i vlog on the hornet 600.

good allround middle class bike. its not too powerful but still good enough for twisties and more power then the normal 250. its a good intermediate step up.

I would not recommend a cbr600rr as a first big bike :P

Dammit! Decided to go the cheaper route with the bike, Having a 125 on finance was a mistake! But we learn from our own mistakes ey?
Leaning towards a Suzuki SV650S at the moment, Only based on looks and some reviews so I will have to look a bit more into it and try and ride before I buy

I take my comment back untill I test rode the Street & Speed Triple. Ohh & the Touno but if you got the Touno for a first bike i'd be pretty worried.

Just realised after I mentioned the bike I saw you had one!
Saw the new exhaust, looks and sound suhweeeet!
Thanks I'll swing over to the channel and check it out.

Sv is nice, massive amount of aftermarket mods too so cheap to make "your own" and an older model which means breakers yards parts for when something goes pete tong.

Think the SV650 it is for now then :D, But will 6 months till the day I can see myself constantly changing my mind lol

The wait will kill me :(

Sat on a Hornet and an SV650S today, Hornet had better styling but was a bit small for me, The SV however fit nicely between my legs (giggidy). Been thinking about my 125 lately, Currently costing me alot every month to run with the insurance and monthly payments.

Think it would be a good idea selling it in march before my insurance renews? Or keep it as I will have to pay off the money anyway? In short it will save me £300 a month, It is on finance so I will have to pay that off beforehand (Hugeeee mistake)

Best thing I was told about buying bikes is.

if you buy it outright the bike will owe you.

I'd wait untill the Insurance is up, then sell or P/X. pay off your Finance & you can get insurance Monthly if needs be?

Best thing to do at the moment is get NCB then pay off the bike. < I'd make them two your main priorty before buying a new bike.

Aye, paying off and selling shouldn't be to much of a hassle, Doesn't seem to be many of the new shaped available used, The extra £300 a month would give me £900 by the time I come to buy, Depending on how much I have left to pay off and how much I sell the bike for.

For mine i am trying to aim for a ER-6f, seen and spoke to people before who had one and they loved it. I have also sat on one and felt like it really suited me, plus i think it being a twin it would suit the restriction really well.
