weather man said it would be warm (relatively) today so decided to ride the bike into work... push the starter an *wirrr wirrr..click click click....*

knew the batt was weak but hoped it would last a bit longer... the joys of owning a motor vehicle.... *sigh*

That blows, man! That happened to me at work last month. Luckily one of my coworkers had a jump-starter in his truck. At least with a bike you can bump-start it...

Battery charger mate, especially with FI. You need enough power for the ecu and starter/

no power outlet by where the bike is... would have to run like a 50' extension cord out to it... also using a batt charger everyday can get you in trouble... as when you start it in the morning its got a peaked charge, and you won't notice a weak battery.. but when you start it somewere else it might be flat.

I usually pull the battery out for winter storage and have it inside on a trickle charger. but I have been doing more winter riding this year.

I knew I needed a new battery soon.. as I had a bit of trouble before when I had the bike turned on a while before starting. but i hoped to make it through the month... oh well... will stop by the bike shop during lunch today and pick up a new batt.

For £50 you could pick up a battery charger with diagnostics for the battery and then for another £5 get a 50 foot extension :P

Problem solved.

Or park it in your bedroom like all good motorcyclists do!

I don't think the landlord would like me building a ramp up to the second floor...

anyway.. new battery is installed... got it at wholesale from the autoparts store I deal with at work. fires right up now.

Am I the only one with a battery that i can crank on a cold morning perfectly fine XD.

I do ride it at least once a week however, most my rides are about a hour too. I just guess my battery lives a happy life

Best thing I ever bought was an Oxford Oximiser. Miles better than an Optimate. If your bike has an alarm on, I can't recommend it enough. My battery kept going flat, a common problem for bikes with alarms fitted (my brother had the same issue with his ZX9R -borrowing my Bandit battery everytime he took his bike out cuz his battery was flat). Not good trying to turn your alarm off when your battery is dead. The Oximiser will not only charge a fully flat battery, but it analyses and maintains your battery. Can also be used on a car so double whammy. Well worth the £80 - I got mine off Evilbay for about half that.
