Favorite Camera Angles

MotoMisc

Move along, nothing to see here!
Curious too find out whats the favorite angles you like videos to be in while doing vlogs(not scenery or bike showings).

I do understand it all comes down to editing but I like it when it changes from infront to helmet etc, but i've seen alot of plastic mounted cameras aswell on the fenders etc =)

Chin mount and "crotch cam" (mounted on the wind deflector facing me) are the best two.

I also do a rear mounted camera when I am on group rides.

I started vlogging with the camera mounted on top of the fuel tank (was easy to blank out the speedo). Then I moved it onto the side of the helmet, which I still use now.

I've used a rear camera before but only took the feed from it when I was overtaking things. Likewise I have used a second camera mounted on the wing mirror to record me in the video but trying to sync the two videos was more hassle than it was worth in the end so have only done it once.

I have a home made chest harness that works really well but its best used for pleasure rides only as the video looks dramatic when you move around on the seat whilst cornering.

The problem when you start placing the camera on the bike is trying to find a mount that doesn't suffer with too much vibration.

Yeah my thought is to put on the stuntbike one on the front fender so you see the forks + me aswell as clutch/break lever controlls etc =) one way I've noticed but not tried yet is to clap or make a sound that both pick up... but I realise now its harder if you put the recording on while driving xD on my commute bike i don't know how im gonna mount it yet therefor the questions :)

I've used the side of helmet cam alot (ala RidingWithTom) and it seems to be ideal since your head stays pretty smooth while riding. I just recently (read: an hour ago on my commute) tried out a chest rig with a gopro. I have enjoyed others' vlogs with that angle in the past- being able to see the controls but still whats ahead is nice. I'll report back on how it was when I can check out the video in a couple hours.

Chest Rig for me was smoother than mounted on the bike, but noticeably less smooth than helmet cam. YMMV.

I want to get one of the 3 axis gimbals and try that out, I've seen some video footage using those and they seem frighteningly smooth

Chin mount for me purely because its the closest to what the riders eyes are seeing, doesn't get in the way and is steady.

I like chest mounts or tank views going forward but only if they use a stabiliser. Then it looks awesome.

Low down on the bike is my new favourite, problem is the vibration down there is a killer.

My primary default is the side mount. My second favorite mount is near my right mirror, which will give you this pov:

damn! let's go ride man!!! you on any Facebook pages? I'm on PNW moto riders and stfu and ride
Let's go! But not in this weather. I'm originally from CA so I'm not used to casually riding in rain, yet.

I have a FB, but I'm rarely on. I am also on PNWMoto, but I noticed there's never anything going on in our area. PM me if you want to plan a ride!
