External Mic Help!!

Ok all you veteran motovloggers, I need some help!

I have a Sony AS15 that I record with, and I am trying to find an external microphone that I can use while the camera is in its waterproof housing. I already modified the housing to fit an external microphone in, but I need to find a microphone that has a thin enough base (where the jack fits into the camera) that would enable me to close the latch on the housing. I got some real cheap lapel mics that work perfectly but the base is way too wide. I need the jack to be about as thin as the one found on any headphone jack (3.5 mm, by the way). I have tried many headphones with a built in microphone but none of them work. I know that there is some small external microphone that would work, but I don't want to keep buying new ones only to find out they have a huge base!

Thanks in advanced!! :D

Can you see if you can find an extension that has a slim jack? The Drift comes with one that has a slim end, not sure if it's mono or stereo, or even if that matters to the Sony.

Update!

I went to Best Buy and got a 6ft extension cable and it works great! I'm in the process of getting a new vlog on my channel with my new setup!

Glad my suggestions work within seconds ;)
Ha yeah I got the cable pretty much as soon as I posted this thread. So you must have some sort of mind reading powers or something to suggest exactly what I was thinking! Great minds think alike I suppose ;)

I've seen the AS100v on ebay for as cheap as $160 if you're interested in upgrading. Love mine. Has the built-in mic port and it works great.

I was thinking about getting a AS100V as a second mic. Does it mount the same way the gopro's with double sided adhesive or a different way?
