External mic for Contour+2

Can someone recommend a cheap mic for the Contour+2, I've got one coming but it hasn't arrived yet. I believe its a 2.5mm jack on that camera.

Nah, the original did. The current one for the HD uses a 2.5mm jack, good audio, just not cheap.

Hey, anyone else got experience with using an external mic on the Contour +2 please?

I've tried using a cheap 3.5mm microphone with the supplied 3.5 to 2.5 converter cable but it doesn't even disable the internal mic when I plug it in and test.

The data sheet on the ME-10 says it requires power from the device and the Contour +2 does not provide power so I'm not sure how that's working.

The Drift HD has an external microphone with a 2.5mm jack compatible with the Contour, but I'm not sure if that microphone requires power or not.

I bought a Contour+2 when I first wanted to start motovlogging. It broke. Now I have a GoPro.

The mic has a 2.5mm plug, so it connects directly into the Contour +2 without any adapter cable. Cost me $25.
