External Audio Options

So I'm looking at upgrading my audio, and its been a while since I've been on here but I figured you all would be the way to go because you all are so much in know with these things. So I have been using a Zoom H1n all last week to record external audio but I have struggled getting the balance right so after doing some research people recommend the H4, well my boss who provided me the H1 also has a Tascam, DR-2d which allows for dual stereo track recording but I don't know how to use this one, does anyone have any recommendations or tips for this unit in particular.

You can't go wrong with any of the Zoom mics. I have the Zoom H2N as it allows me to record external sound and mic sound simultaneously.

You should be able to get great audio with the Zoom you have.

Yeah the audio from the H1 is great but it only can capture one audio source line in or external mic. so my boss had the tascam with multiple inputs but it doesn't seem to let me do mic and external audio, I guess I need to look into the H2n, I know that is the one AB swears by but i can get this H1 or the Tascam for a steal.

I am actually surprised the Tascam did a decent job at picking up the external audio but it is grainy so it will take some adjustment to get it right this might just be the one for me, will keep this post updated.

Well my boss brought in yet another audio source for me to try out today, Trascam DR-40 4 channel supports simultaneous external and mic recording, only downside is mics are XLR inputs, but that's what an adapter is for.
