Editing And Pauses Questions

So it seem to be a pulse talker, I say something and then rest for a any where .25-1.0 seconds and then start speaking again. and then it repeats it self all over. any tips for editing with this, do i just but a soft music track behind it or cut it out all together or do I record over and over to get the timing right.
