Drift Remote - Where Do You Put It?

Hi everyone, :D

Just wondering where to place the Drift remote control to be practical. On the handlebars is good but I tend to walk away from the bike and forget it, leaving it as prey for some opportunist. Not practical for me to wear it on the wrist so I'm asking Drift owners where or how they place their remotes in the hopes of a genius idea. :idea:

Both helmets, side-head mount, right side with the microphone running inside and securly (but not destructively) wedged into the foam at the side of my cheek/eye.

My Duchini was a dream as it's a standard smooth hard-top; My Caberg Trip was a pain due to some very minor flaring and ribs. First 3M stick pad came off due to moisture getting underneath it (the ribs). Now it seems intact with a velco-sticky pad - the thickness of the eye side means it can wrap around / follow the contours of the ribs, while the eyes can reach in and still attach to the 'trenches'.

Always preferred my camera to be on me - unless they are permanently fixed and relatively hidden on the bike, I always fear the possibility of walking away from the bike without thinking.

My helmet is a flip front Caberg which created a few problems! However I was asking more about where folk put the remote control unit for the camera. As I'm getting memory challenged in my old age I am worried about losing it. One thought was to fix it to my jacket somehow and then it would stay with me. Don't really want to wear it "wristwatch" fashion.

I'd consider maybe attaching it to a key ring split ring on a zipper. Easy then a you can't walk off without it :)

i put velcro on the underside of the recording unit. and then stick it to my main handle bar clamp. so when i finish a ride. i see it as i grab the keys.

Wrap mine around the handles, black like the remote so it blends in, Left it on a few times without a problem :D
 
I just keep it in my top pocket, I heard it isn't very waterproof. though If I'm wrong and it does survive the wet I might stick it to my bars too

Yeah - was reading from a very small mobile screen when I answered initially - wasn't until I got to my desk that I realised there were extra words in the title :)

Almost the same answer however - nearly all of my use of the camera is continual. I don't bother with switching the thing on and off at all - you're pretty much guaranteed that anything weird and worthy of recording happens when the camera is off. I turn the camera on when mounting the bike, off when I'm parked up. I have a big SD card in there, so I can record for hours non-stop without issue.

I keep the remote in my pocket, but rarely actually use it. Even with larger buttons, I still find it's a PITA and just use the buttons on the camera itself immediately before putting my last glove on.

One day when I can get say, a 32 GB card and spare heavy duty batteries I hope to be able to do the same. Having just bought the camera, one HD battery and that £19.99 Drift kit that a member kindly posted the link to the finances need to recover! However I have a birthday in March and have been dropping heavy hints around the family like confetti. :D

I just wrap mine around the left handlebars. It seems to blend in well with everything else so I just leave it on there.

It is going to be pretty much useless to most people anyway who see it unless they have a drift themselves.

I also have a spare remote at home so if I lost it it would be no big deal.

+1. Reaching to the middle of the bars is the same for me as reaching to the side of my helmet. Although I should note that I record 99.9% of my rides, whether I'm vlogging or not, so the camera is typically running before I even put the helmet on...

I do not remove it when I'm going to leave the bike. As IRDUG, it's quite stealthy. But the buttons can make me mad, they don't work when I want.
