Hey,

I want to get some footage of my windsurfing sessions recorded this year but I am kind of worried about the Drift.

Obviously when you type in Windsurfing in YouTube it is filled with people using GoPros and ZERO people using drifts..

First off I know there is a waterproof case, would this still work with the handlebar attachment? Do you think the handlebar attachment is sturdy enough to withstand 15/20mph spills? My idea was having it with the handlebar mount attached to the boom and working from there.

If not the handlebar mount - do you think the adhesive would do well in salt water?

I know this forum is about motovlogging but someone must have taken theirs near/under water.

The drift mounts are about as fragile as the gopro mounts, so in reality that should be fine. Their adhesives suck, peel that useless crap off and buy some 3M double stick tape. That stuff is a LOT stronger. I dont know about the waterproof housing, but if it doesn't do the job you'd have a pretty good case for having them replace the camera..

Funnily enough i got sent by mistake a waterproof case instead of my silicone rear cover, of course i had to send it back but it looked pretty durable. I don't think the handle bar mount would work (i may be wrong, i only had the thing for a day) but as Trinith said replace the stock stuff with 3M and you should be fine.

You could try a test run by leaving the mount soaking in water overnight to see if i can withstand it?

Where do you windsurf Wibbles? I have thought about putting my camera on for windsurfing but thats as far as it got.

Where else? The birth place of windsurfing - Hayling Island :)

And thanks for input guys, at the moment I am kind of stuck then I was thinking the handlebar mount would work on the boom but if it is likely to break and I lose the thing at sea I won't bother, bit of a shame really as the watersports hero 2 was £250 :(

I'll see if I can get a proper camera mount for it and use the threading way instead of drift clips.

why not make a bracket with a skrew thread on to bolt it onto the boom and isent there a landyard hole so you can rope it to the boom?

Don't think there is a lanyard hole on the Drift HD :(

I'm thinking I might just buy a helmet and go down that route, I hate wearing helmets while in the water though.

Found something that might work though "Flymount".

Leave the quick connect clip on it and use that as the lanyard base.

I don't think the mounts would break tbh.

I'll give the handlebar mount a go first, gotta pick up my new board first then I'll see what happens next week :)
