Drift HD broken after 1 day

So I bought a Drift HD 720. I loved the camera, Was a little disappointed with the quality, but over all its a good camera.

So I only got to use it a few times before it kicked the bucket, When I turn it on it just black screens.

This is the first helmet camera I have bought and I won't be able to buy another one any time soon, It sucks that my first experience with drift was a bad one. I have contacted the company I bought it from and they said I would have to wait until Wednesday to see if anything will be done.

Drift are normally pretty good when it comes to customer support, though I am suprised by the quality. When I film in 720 with mine (I have the Drift HD170 Stealth) it's normally a fair bit better. Hope that they do the decent thing and send you a new one.

I used a youtube editor thing to make the video brighter, so it was worse than what the video is like now. Also, does anyone know how to wire in an external mic into the drift hd?

Short of pulling it apart and wiring in a microphone and likely voiding your warranty, you're going to need to record audio separately.

I'm surprised the 720 doesn't have a mic port, seems they really cut corners on that camera as it doesn't even have a 170 degree FoV.

I wouldn't modify the thing in any way. You'll probably be sending it back to Drift a few times before the warranty is up as it is.

I haven't touched the camera, I was just thinking I may do it when/If they send me a new one. But it seems that would not be a good idea. I'm a bit of a noob at all this helmet camera stuff sorry

thats why i won't upgrade my Drift Stealth HD 170 - Its better then the Drift HD

What are you talking about? The Drift HD has a mic port in the back.

This all sounds horribly familiar ... bought a HD720, no external mic possible, then it died!

What I did was phone drift, get a little bit shirty and upset and then ask if they'll send me the full HD (1080) to replace the broken HD270 ... they said yes, if I paid the £100 ish difference, I said £50, they said £100, so I said OK.

Wish I hadn't bothered with the 720HD, not worth 20p and a kit-kat let alone £150 or whatever! The HD, however, is amazing!
