Drift Ghost 4k

So things I don't like.

USB microphone connection
External battery or smaller internal (lack of mAh for a higher drain camera)
Small SD card
Still only a 300 degree lens

I'd like the new shiny toy, but I just don't want to take a step back as I try to step forwards.

I don't think 4k has taken off as expected as far as majority households having a tv, pc or tablet that can see the images. And by the time YouTube has finished processing it will be down at 720 anyway.

I overheard someone say that GoPros don't record at "true 4K", no idea what they meant by that, but for this Drift to take off it a) needs to be a very good price and b) needs to be excellent and reliable from the off without any of the HD and S gemlins that took so long to address (badly).

GoPro 4 Silver in the UK lists at £429. Ghost S is currently £250. Any guesses where the 4K will sit?

Could be interesting. But with the crappy internet in this country decent 4K is a long way off.

If the price is decent I might look at one though.

I suppose 1080 at higher FPS for slow mo, or 4K to zoom in for a normal HD video might be handy, but which one do you want outta the two :)

What I have seen so far about it wouldn't make me convert from the GoPro, although I hate the external mic sitch on the GP5 Black

I've been looking at 4k stuff of late and this whole mic thing has just totally turned me off.

Why can't they just go back to making the cameras with a 3.5 plug.

it is because they can make money from us by not doing so. I actually don't entirely object to having a mic adaptor, if it came with a soft lead that was long enough to mount wherever you wanted but due to the short lead and a crash helmets shape the USB-C connector is always going to have a force on it which could make it have noise or disconnect etc. The USB-C also has no force holing it connected which is crap too and obviously you lose the waterproofing which means those crazy storms you get caught in will either not be recorded or will have piss flaps audio!

I dont so much care for the 4k, but I see it can do 1080p at 120fps. That could be some seriously smooth video, not to mention the slow mo. I love the extra battery pack.

Agreed with others, the special thing for external mic feels like a step backwards.

I'd love 120fps at 1080P but would also relish 60fps at 4k

There are roumours that a firmware update will allow this with the drift 4k

I like the idea of the camera, the USB thing has me pissed though. Keep a eye out from me for a video about it soon.

Anyone take the plunge and buy a Ghost 4K, yet? I want to hear your opinions on it. I really like the size and form factor, but I had a Stealth 2 that was craptacular, so not sure about this one.

Not even out yet. So nobody would realistically have one, commercially anyway.

Of course it's out. You can order it from their website. Spicy110 is using one for weeks already. Unfortunately i's quite a disappointment. See his videos and decide for yourself.

It's been "sold out" for a while ;) Read into that what you want, but initial early testers haven't been happy with it.

Oh that's a different story. Interesting... Well I'm not too surprised. They messed up the last batch of Drift Ghost-S with their red lense flare bug and didn't seem to care when I showed them at their stand at the IOM TT last year.
