Hi,

Has anyone tried using their adhesive mount on a matt helmet? The mount came unstuck when turning the camera into position, but then re stuck and seems to hold to the point of being able to pick up the helmet using the camera while attached to it, however, I don't feel confident going 60+ in fear of it flying off. I was just wondering if this was related to the matt finish on my helmet as I know suction mounts don't like it.

Any input or how to make it more secure?

Thanks :)

How long did you leave it for? I dont have a matt finish helmet but I left the mount to dry over night and its fine. Other than attaching some plastic coated wire to it and anchoring it something like your arm or maybe the helmets buckle I can't think of anything else.

Mine is stuck on a matt black helmet, I let it settle (initially stick for a good while) before using it. No movement from mine so far :)

My helmet's matt white and I've not had a single issue. Had adhesive velcro before, no problems there either.

I think that's where I went wrong, I left it about 5 minutes and didn't apply much pressure the first time or clean the helmet before hand. I've ordered some extra ones so I'll probably swap it out and do it properly with the new one :)

Thanks

Matt Black in my experience has been the best surface for these mounts. Give it a lot of pressure and time to dry on though.

How weird i was just having this exact discussion with the guys at work as i am changing my helmet this week and i found a really nice matt black one but have gone off it as i wasnt sure if my Drift HD mount would adhere as well as on a normal style helmet

Yep matt black helmet drift stuck no problem. Allowed the mount to stick for a good while first though.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

now you got me thinking as the helmet i wanted was so awesome in a mix of matt white and black grrr lol

Its a shame i ditched purchasing a decent matt black and white shoei helmet today as i couldn't be certain that it would adhere correctly and if anything if i got it wrong what mark it would leave if i tried to remove it

GoPro mount on my matte black HJC is tops.

Selected an area which has maximum contact with the curved mount and then cleaned that bit with isopropyl alcohol (removes any trace of grease) and then stuck it on.
One hard push then left it overnight to cure.

Can't get the b*stard off now :s

NB: You can get isopropyl alcohol at local chemist or online. Chemist is better as you only need a teeny amount.
