Doing the "Wave"

I know this topic has been beaten to death, but I just couldn't resist posting about it...

I'm really wondering if maybe I should just stop waving at Harley riders all together. I seem to get about 2-3 out of 10 to actually acknowledge me and it's starting to kinda piss me off.
I've been going by the little motto that I'd rather wave and not be waved back at than risk myself being the dickhead who doesn't wave at all.
I hate to lump Harley riders into a group like this, but it's kinda unavoidable. I initiate about 95% of the waves that get returned when waving at harley riders. Weird thing is that most of the time if it's a single harley... No wave back at all, but if it's two or more they all seem happy to wave.

I'm seriously thinking about turning around on one of the non-wavers and following them till they stop just to ask WTF the deal is. I'm sure I'd have to do it a few times before finding someone with the backbone to tell me the truth about why I don't get waved at.
I know some of you are reading this thinking... What's this guys hangup on needing return waves.?
It's not that I NEED them to wave back, I'd just like it to be a level playing field. If I had the same problem getting other bike riders to wave it wouldn't be an issue for me.
The issue is that MOST of the harley riders I know personally are great guys. They're nice, friendly, and helpful in life, but when they mount their hog it's as if they have an attitude change.
Is it that they feel superior, or is it jealously.
Personally speaking I really don't understand where they could/would feel superior since it not like they built the bike themselves, or you have to apply or be "special" to get a chance to buy one. Anyone with money can buy one if that's what they choose to ride, so that brings me to jealously.
I can totally see how they would be jealous of someone riding a sportbike, or a dual sport if they are incapable of riding one themselves. I mean look at the differences. How many fatasses do you see riding dual sport or sport bikes compared to the harley crowd. Look at the difference in the women who are attracted to the different classes of bikes.
Then there's the squid side of things. Most of the non-wavers are 100% squid, where as I'm always wearing my gear.

Bottom line is: Should I just stop wasting my time and effort giving a friendly wave, or I should just start waiting until they wave first then wave back. I really hate to not wave, but at the end of it all I'm sick of being slightly disappointed every time some jackass is to high-and-mighty to wave back.

Don't get hung up on it bro.

I can't get the Harleys to wave back at me either, and guess what I ride? LOL

I still wave at them all anyway. Scooters too.

I wave at everyone, even at scooters and mopeds. Mopeds are ridden mostly by old pensioners using old obsolete helmets, having their mouth opened and their moped loaded with fishing gear and when I wave at them their face expresion is priceless. But sometimes I don't wave back because I have to handle the clutch at the moment but I at least nod.

Here in Czech is most of the bikers friendly guys and you rarely meet someone who doesn't wave back. Those are mostly cruiser bike riders on shiny new-like expensive bikes (no offense on those who wave back).

Damn I remember my very first ride on 125ccm when some guy waved on me and I was like "OMG NOW I'M REAL RIDER!".
