Does Anybody Monitise Their Youtube Videos ?

I've applied for an Adsense account, so we'll see how that goes. But I don't have high hopes of ever making anything

I see since this thread started, another is gaining momentum complaining about ads :)
Oh man, I'm not complaining about the ads. I started the thread to ask what would be the best form of ads that wouldn't annoy people so I can get a good compromise between earning my overheads, and letting people enjoy content.

I know, although you might find a few opinions in there as well.

Ads are here and here to stay, generally, for me, the less intrusive the better. The banner ad is annoying as it always seems to pop up over a caption or video title. Then you need to go back and play it again to read it.

I just wish they had a third option, to put ad boxes just below the player instead of within the video itself.

They already have that as a compulsory option, in small view the ad box is to the right, in cinema (big but not full screen) it's above the watch next suggestions, however these can be blocked by ad blockers.

People don't like seeing ads, but they do like to use services that don't cost anything to use, while forgetting that somehow it needs to be paid for. Server farms aren't cheap, and storing and transmitting that much video data requires quite a bit of pricey firepower.

So I don't mind any of the ads, except ones of more than 10s that you can't skip as I believe it's for people to watch video clips and it's not a TV station.

I make very little from my channel, in the last 28 days it says I have made a grand total of $5.56, so yea not a lot hehe.
Don't get me wrong if we made serious money off this it would be great but come on if you in it for the money your gonna be sorely disappointed or very lucky!

My YT channel 8 years old and I started monitizing my videos when they first developed it. It paid a lot more back in the day ;) I make a lot less now from more videos and more views.
But it has never been about making money, I just monetized because I could. Ads don't stop me from watching other people's videos, figure I might as well if I have the option.

So far ive made $0.23 haha! all it takes is thagt 1 video to go viral though.. then maybe you'll make your first doll-hair :)

28 days and 5 bucks? That's pretty grand you gotta admit.

I made 15 bucks over the course of a year!

Well....albeit i would have bought the equipment whether i started vlogging or not, but $15 hardly covered the total amount i spent on all my shit lol

yeah thats true :p but like you said, I brought the equipment anyway not expecting it to be covered by anything :) in england, that 15$ is about £10.50 so that will fill my tank up from empty to full :) (petrol is about £1 per Litre over here)

It's $2 a gallon in the USA. Harrumph. That's about 50p per litre :(

is crazy cheap over there.. buut! their octane levels are shocking!! like 87 for normal and 91 for premium in california from what I see from BXD and Sub D.. 95 for standard here and 97 for premium.

I didst monetize my account due to the fact of wanting to use any song i wanted on a video.
Not monetizing doesn't mean you can use any song you want. Even if it's not monetized if the copyright holder says the song cannot be used in any other video, you still can't use it like a monetized video.

Monetized and non-monetized videos play by the same rules as far as copyright is concerned.
