Do You Sub Back?

I am pretty new to having my own YouTube channel but I have been subscribing to channels on a different account for a few years now. So I am wondering, do you sub back to all your new subs? Is there any kind of unspoken rules to that?

Furthermore, do you message new subs thanking them for subscribing to your channel?

No, I generally do not sub back. I have a hard enough time keeping up with the folk I am already subscribed to. But if I come across a channel that makes me laugh I will subscribe to them. Being a content creator, working 40 hours and being a father leaves little time to actually watch videos. I do binge watch at times, but I don't even come close to watching all the content creators I like.

Not as a rule I don't sub back. Only if I see something I'm interested in.

I generally probably would sub to someone else that are sharing videos that I might be interested in, but probably not sub to someone that is demanding (or asking/begging) to be subbed or running a sub-4-sub scheme.

Avoid at all costs! lol Good plan. The "someone big" thing has recently gotten a little strange to me. Im not subscribed to any of the big names I dont think on this channel but I was on a different one. To be honest I just dont dig most of the content anymore. It has been fun finding new channels through this site though. Seeing other places I havent been before is really cool.

I only sub if it pertains to what I like. I wouldn't do the person an injustice and be a dead subscriber. Nor would I ask for the same.

If people only sub to me because they think i'll sub back then its pretty pointless as the counter with subscribers might look better but they won't be watching your stuff.

The reason I asked this question is you usually see a push in social media to "like for like" or "follow back". Just wondered how people felt about this pertaining to YouTube. Seems like its much more of a free for all.

I won't do sub 4 sub. I subscribe for a variety of reasons. Usually content.

No, I will however take a look if they have a channel. As humans we are quick to judge so if I like what I see in the first video I click I may sub. But only if I think I will enjoy watching the content they create. Just because you do not sub back does not mean you do not appreciate the person for subscribing to your channel.

I'll admit that I have subscribed to people who have subscribed to me, but realize that I don't enjoy their content and end up unsubscribing. I have since stopped that, feeling that it is almost rude to just unsubscribe a few days later.
