Do you have an intro for your videos ?

How many of you have an intro that you use for each video? I am working on one now. I have had an intro, but I wanted a new intro for my new bike. Here is what I'm working in.

I gotta make a few adjustments , but I like where it's heading

I have a 5 second intro title I use on all my vids. I'd be wary about having long intros as people will skip them if subscribers as they won't want to wait through it, and it could also put off new viewers as they would rather get to the video. You have nice use of the drone though. Personally, I'd also be wary of showing where you live too much, but that is just me :-)

I agree with @HippoDrone - I had a 15s intro, then 10s, now it's 6, if I use it. These days, I just incorporate about 4s of dead air into my ride [if I remember], somewhere near the start, and do my text overlay, and done.

I like your drone footage - if you cut it and line it up with the beat/tempo of your music track, make it about 5-10s long, it'll be more engaging I think, and grab viewers' attention. Just my thoughts on it though :D

Like the others, I have one, but it is 9 seconds. I think if you go to long, people move on to another video. I like the production of yours, maybe speed ramp through parts of it and focus on 2-3 Important parts of it to shorten it up.

Nice intro. I agree with Hippo as I could be too long for new viewers. I would keep your walk out to your bike, but before there’s a shift in your drone’s direction or hover, cut to the title of your Motovlog. After this cut to a shot of you pulling away on your bike. I don’t think you need to see the lights flashing before you take off.

Take the above only as a suggestion.

Well not to jump on the bandwagon, but long intros get skipped or worse people hit the back button. Either way your engagement suffers. You can probably get away with something "cinematic" depending on the video but it would be just for THAT video you know. As a subscriber once I've seen the intro a couple times unless it's short I'm skipping. My intro is like 5 seconds, and I typically put a few seconds of teaser footage or something ahead of it.

i used one on my early vids and still do on the outtakes vids that run while i'm deployed or underway. now i do my "intro" as i start the video. i think well done short intros are a great idea. unfortunately i have a really slow connection here so it takes an hour or more for a 5min video.

I don't have and I don't care really but if you want to use the one you show us here - make it 4sec long. Each cut in that scene no longer than 1 sec.

That could be a nice one for your channel trailer.. The one that plays on your channel page when people view it. But if it's for something you put into every video you make, honestly by the 3rd time watching I'm most likely to drag the play bar past it.

That's a great idea! People want to make these cool cinematic intros, I get it and some are really well done. The issue is the attention span of most people, myself included. So I love this idea and actually I may do something like this for my channel.

I agree that this would be a nice channel trailer.

Intros should be 2-5 seconds long or not at all. Especially with youtube putting more and more ads in videos. This 36 seconds would most likely start with an ad then be followed by an ad and the viewer wouldn't have even seen anything of the video to make them want to stick around to watch because they have already been into it for 45 seconds to a minute (depending on if or when they can skip the ad) and that is a turn off for most viewers.

Teaser footage or an outtake or blooper up front can be fun, I like to use those in some of my vlogs, but again, I don't set out to have those, if something works for up front, then I toss it in there. And a well placed How do you you do of some sorts and an actual introduction of yourself goes a long way not only with new eyes on your video, but can make for a more fun and spontanious "intro" to your vlogs.

I have a dorky looking picture of myself I did with some lettering as a test, and because I haven't learned to do anything cool yet. But for some reason it works, and it's stuck. lol
