Do you do a first ride of 2021?

Hello all!

Well 2020 is the shyte! Oh wait, I meant 2020 is shiddy!

I doubt 2021 is going to go much better for some of us. Despite the abundance of bad news, who all is going out on the first day of January to give the universe something to smile about?

I think I will be playing my wandering game but part of me is tempted to cruise into Nashville and see how folks are doing. Nashville had already cancelled the New Year's Eve public gatherings due to the pandemic but I suspect there will be some folks out and about other than the closed area of downtown.

We used to go to a local bike haunt each year, not doing it this one. I might go out, but without a direction motivation is harder for me currently
I feel the same way. Without a purpose it is getting harder to ride sometimes.

I am sure I will feel better once I am in the saddle a few dozen miles.

I will be this year but it will more of a summary of proposed plans for if Covid allows.

I normally do. I get up early on New Years day, some days the weather means it is a 30 minute ride, some years I ride all day. I can't ride this year, due to a large project at work, I have to be available all day on the 1st, so I can't go ride, I am pretty bummed about that.

Unfortunately I am working on 1st and MOT is out thanks to Covid. And now got to wait for garages to reopen to get it booked in again.

Sorry to hear some of you won't ride, but neither will I. Current forecast is for rain all day.

The 2nd looks good though, so I'll probably do my "Frosty Balls" ride that day.

It's usually a 1-2 hour ride, no real destination in mind, just cruising around, starting the new year off right.

I always try to hit the road on Thanksgiving (poured all day this year), Xmas (got out on Xmas Eve between downpours), and New Years Day is looking like cloudy with a chance of BRAAAAAP. It will be in the 40's but I have a set of Walls insulated overalls so I'm ready! Probably stay local and just do a nice loop on the Connecticut shoreline.

Yay! We are supposed to get rain all day... so bad but good 'cause it'll wash away any leftover salt on the roads! For this year's Frosty Balls ride, I got voluntold I'm going to go 1.5 hours from home to pick up something my wife bought on Facebook :D

Plus, I'll get a chance to record the trek, so yay?

It says rain isn't supposed to start until around noon. So as long as I film early, I should be good. At least you have a large fairing! That help keeps the rain off.

Yeah, the fairing definitely helps - I've been caught in the rain and it's not fun, but it's doable.

This time of year I don't take the risk. If it's gonna rain, I'm staying in or in my truck.

It is supposed to be Thunderstorms for me tomorrow but I will ride anyway!

I could use the bath and then edit for 2021:)

I won't get to ride on 1-1-21 as I'm spending the day with family, but they are forecasting for sun and 50° here in PA on 1-2-21 so YES I'm going for my first 2021 ride tomorrow! I doubt I'll film it, my brother and I are just going to enjoy it and ride in random directions for the fun of it.

I did get a ride in, and just finished a quick edit for a video that is rendering and uploading now. It was a good way to start out the year, even if it was a bit cold and wet.

I watched it - and posted a comment ;)

Good going. Remind me, what bike are you riding?

If it's under 55 or 60F, I don't even bother with my un-faired bikes ... I'm too thin-skinned for that!
