Direct connection fromsd to HDD.

Does anybody know if there is a way to record from a camera such as the drift/go pro directly onto a HDD or SSD. So the HDD/SSD would be effectively replacing the SD card. I dont know loads about computers but Im sure it must be possible to make some sort of SD adaptor that transfers data directly from the camera to a larger storage device or something?

Just curious as a large portable, 12V powered HDD combined with 12V lead to the camera could result in some pretty epicly long recording times. If you could introduce some sort of firmware to automatically overwrite old video when the HDD was full you could have a never ending system which you could just pull what you want off to upload.

I understand that you would need somthing to at least emulate the OS interface inbetween the camera and HDD but my thinking is that something simple like the new Rasberry Pi could be used to achieve this through linux.

If you are meaning for bike usage, the vibrations and movements of the bike wouldn't work well with an HDD but would with a solid state drive.
