Considering This Is A Motovlog Forum....

.... it is incredibly restrictive and almost impossible to post anything of possible interest as threads get deleted.

I have had 2 new threads deleted recently, the first was me singing the praises of a local company who went above and beyond to help me when I was in need and stopped me having an accident.
The second was a post about motorcycle photography, where I posted 2 videos that were relevant (which were not my own) and a wedge of photos (which were mine).

Now I get this place does not owe me anything but surely it owes itself something? It is strangling itself and stopping discussion.

No wonder forums die off and people turn to facebook and other mediums.

In what area did you post the videos though.
the first was in maintenance as it involved getting a flat tyre sorted and an MoT, the second was in Moto Photos. I'm not really bothered too much, am new here etc but I really don't get why a forum supposedly dedicated to the video format will not allow videos to be posted that are relevant to the topic.

If the video was a vlog and not directly a maintenance video then it would be deleted - I tend to turn a blind eye and so do other mods if it actually has value but a vlog with no content etc... Goes in post your videos.

The 'rules' have been the same for at least two years (link above)

Before that two years, maybe three now... The site was spam, pure spam, every forum section was a vlog... Spam. No community

I've looked at the logs, you posted a 12-minute video where you talk about a puncture or issue but that's not maintenance, that's talking about an issue. We can't watch every video right to the last second just got 10 seconds of a maybe of something being fixed. Im still listening to the video and you were in the garage for like 10 seconds which ended in you saying thanks for fixing it....

However - You nearly have a valid point and I'll allow proper 'how to fix' videos in the maintenance section soon..

People can post some videos in track section, meet ups, editing.. As long as they match the rules on top of the posts blah

If you think something shouldn't be placed in the suggested areas, post it in post your videos and report it.. We will take a look

But the rules are here for community not posting videos

I can't find a log of the other post but i get what you're saying and I'll think about your suggestion - Mainly because its a fine line of letting people share and spamming.. We all want views blah blah but this is a community first.

I do need to work with the mods on some sections and you highlighting about maintenance is a valid point, as long as its only maintenance

EDIT - I'll find your other post but I will never 'override' a mods choice etc but I'll raise it as a discussion point

Same applies for track section really - I'll probs check the other sections and do the same posts - IF relevant, check sticky threads

That will have been me who deleted the threads.

Totally understand your point, but as Dan says, we've got forum rules to benefit a community.

If you're not sure, post it in vlogs and hit the "report" button, and we'll happily move it to an appropriate section if it fits.

But as Dan says, it's got to be wholly relevant, not a vlog with a bit on the end.

There's a bit of a fine line, and depending where you stand seems to make a difference of where people think it is :) We've got to try to look at it from the community point of view.
