Competition Format Suggestion - Using Google Sheets

OK - Its getting warmer and we seem to be getting ready for competitions etc

One thing that I've have witnessed from competitions like Solar or Sunny Bear is the progression of the mods/organisers managing to keep up with hits of video submissions etc. I've also noticed that keeping a 'score card' is a pain in the arse!

After some looking around and getting feedback, I've decided that Google Sheets will be the best option for a few reasons but the main things are:

  • if you're uploading to Youtube, you'll have a Google account
  • You can self moderate because if you're entering, you can edit your own section (unless admins remove your access)
  • Score cards are kept in one place for all to see
The score card will look something like this; public viewing but only people in the competition will be able to edit the post, maybe! We're working on that bit so it may be tweaked a bit

Seems like a fairly good option to me.

The ability to add your own links just makes it easier for everyone.

It would also be very easy for trolls to mess things up if the doc was open for editing, a compromise would be letting participants leave their gmail with which they will be given access.
This is up to the one the one running the contest to choose.

I generally approve of this format as a standard and requirement for running vlog contests here.

And if an entry did troll then the changes will be tracked aka banned from the competition and the site
