So I watched a video by Her Two Wheels this morning while eating my breakfast where she talked about how she's managed to grow her channel so fast. One of the things she said was how she doesn't watch other motovloggers because she doesn't want to be influenced by them. She has the goal of doing her own thing creatively and is afraid if she watches what others are doing she might find herself trying to emulate them. She also would rather spend that time working on her own channel instead of watching videos.
I found that interesting. Even though I have my own channel now I still spend a LOT of time watching other motovloggers. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't been influenced by other motovloggers, but personally I don't see that as a bad thing? I've learned a lot by seeing what others are doing, and I feel my own channel has improved by what I've learned from others. Plus I love commenting in other people's videos too, makes this motovlogging thing feel more like a community in my opinion.
Does anyone here NOT watch other people's motovlogs like Jess to avoid being influenced creatively by them? It's something I never really considered before.
