Yep I know. Will chuck some lube on it and take it to college next week to get it replaced. Don't think the guy that had it before me took much care of it.

good thing you decided to check it eh? The bike might even feel alot different after the new chain. I know mine did, I'd let it get way past it's use by date, it was lubed an all, it had just got streched out due to over use, a few people on here probably remember it haha

God I know. There's a few things I'll need to replace on mine like fork/dust seals. I don't know when these things were last changed so might as well just get them all done now before the better weather comes in.

I've also discovered ACF-50 and the product is just phenomenal (stinks and smokes at first). It not only stops corrosion but also seems to permanently bring out the original color of metals and plastics.

I'm amused by you guys.

I guess I'm one of those other guys; I clean mine, I also polish my boots, clean my jacket, check my water levels.

My D.I.D. VX Ring chain, survived a 3K miles jaunt down to the Pyrenese for off-roading fun, a year commuting to work (~6-8K miles), and then a casual 12K miles ride from London to Cape Town, across the Nubian Desert, Dide Galgalu Desert.... and many other sandy stretches... I adjusted the chain in 2 years: twice. The front sprocket wore out sure... and the rear was a bit worn. The chain, smooth link movements, no stretching. Maybe I was just "lucky"

I wouldn't even want to brag about being a frequent maintenance freak... simply cleaned it when it got dirty.
