Channel Rebranding Thoughts

Something I've been thinking about lately, I have another youtube channel, Rudeboys FPV, this was a channel dedicated to all things drones and FPV, the channel has been dormant for about 6 years now as the rise of DJI pretty much killed the hobby for me, don't get me wrong I like DJI drones and own 2 of them but there just not what I was interested in the hobby for,
My main focus was building long range drones and experimenting with different components, frames, props, motors etc., I did dabble in small FPV racing type drones but this was never my main interest in the hobby and as mentioned when DJI started churning out there drones all the new rules and regs pretty much killed the self build long range stuff with very few manufacturers catering to this side of things, most switched to racing / small FPV drones..

Anyways this channel has over 1000 subs and I've thought about rebranding it to my RudeboyMoto channel and uploading my motovlog vids there instead, now I know this channel initially catered to a different audience (although I do know that some of my subs on this channel were also bikers) but my thinking is with the more subs this channel has maybe the youtube algorithm will look more favourably at it and push my videos out more...

Maybe I'll upload a few videos to it and see how they fair compared to on my RudeboyMoto Channel, thoughts?

There is a chance the start will be easier, but I don't think youtube will start promoting your channel from the first video, but it takes regular posting. So this is where the subscribers could come in to play and theoretically give the initial boost.

What kind of targeting systems and weapons did you mount?

yeah that was kind of my thought, I already have 50+ vids on my current channel that I could move over to the "other" channel doing it either once or twice weekly so would be a way to get a more constant upload regime going while I work on making / editing current videos, as getting time to do this is one of my struggles as mentioned in another post, so this could give me a good buffer so to speak of videos already done and ready for uploading.. definitely some food for thought...

Regards the targeting and weapons systems... none of that I'm afraid, it was more about the video systems and control systems and how far I could push them before the drone fell out of the sky or I lost video signal and trying different motor / prop / power combos to try and maximise flight times, I wasn't serious into it but I did enjoy it, I did experiment with night vision and IR LED's, that was fun...

Heck, rebrand the old channel and then post identical motovlogs to BOTH channels concurrently and see which one grows better for a few months. After you see which one wins, keep that channel and shutter the other one.

I recently posted some RC car stuff on my motovlogging channel, am not sure if that is what caused it, but I am really struggling with growth at the moment, and it makes me wonder if that stuff messed with the algorithm causing my stagnation. I'm not sure it is the cause, because during all the lockdowns I posted an RC build on my channel and that made no difference at all... although that was during lockdowns when people had a lot more time on their hands.

I think rebranding is OK, generally, but it can lead to an exodus of sorts for existing subscribers. I think the OP will have a better time posting drone stuff to the drone channel and letting that grow. The almighty algorithm likes a defined audience [niching down] to be able to push to.

Now on to your comment, Hippo - a LOT of motovloggers are reporting stagnation these days. In the dog days of summer, while everyone's supposed to be hopped up on bikes... nada. zip. nothing. I think the types of videos viewers want to watch are changing, yet again, and they're abandoning the old ways. Gotta try something different or new to attract audiences these days.

Good luck both of you!
