Channel Logo / Icons

Hey Carmo I made my own out of different designs of images I liked, its not the best but if I ever get to the stage of stickers and shirts ect, I will just send the logo I already have to someone with more experience to re create it and perfect it for print, I mean the size of an avatar is not that big to have to have fine detail and most of the time I find the simple ones the best If not I'm sure guys like that resistor (fella in earlier comments) might go alright at it, tattoo artist that know there way around computer image design would go alright

Hey Carmo,
I made mine myself using GIMP which is a free image editing software you can download. The first step is sketching... sketch out ideas that you want incorporated into your logo. Mine for instance... It's of a helmet (my exact helmet), wings (represent the Hawk in MotoHAWKY) and the silver circle sort of just made it all look like one.... like an emblem say. I draw it all on paper first then went to GIMP and fiddled for HOURS to get it how i liked it. As everyone has said, it is rather rewarding to make your own logo then to pay someone to do it.

Cheers,
MotoHAWKY

A channel logo is my main priority at the moment. I have Photoshop but my artistic skills are quite limited, to put it politely. I intend to have something pretty simple. By bike, with me standing behind it, with an effect similar to the one in my avatar to the left of this post. Shouldn't be too difficult I don't think.

MotoHAWKY, I love your logo. Great work!

If I were to give designing my own a crack or get someone else to design one - where do I start? As in what makes up your logo and does every small part of it have a story behind it?

For example if I got a graphic designer to do mine would I give him a short list like; I'm australian, I ride this type of bike, bike is this colour, this my name, I enjoy hungry jacks whoppers and jumble all that together please then let me know what you come up with?

hit me up and I can work on something for you. basically what I get you to do is to tell me what you are looking for in a design and I will design rough drafts and from there if you find one you like but want to change we look at that one closer and make changes that you want done till the design is to what you want. (no money needed)

here is my fb page for my designs https://www.facebook.com/ColeTattoos

Thanks Resistor, that's very kind of you to offer.

I will have a careful think about exactly how I want the design to be, then I'll get back to you.

:)

Having someone professional make your logo might guarantee a good result but it doesn't guarantee a unique one. If even one other person asked something similar to yours , there is a chance it will look similar too.
I know for sure mine's unique. I took a photograph of myself, sent it over to the guy at fiverr, and he sketched out exactly what he saw... so I can't really say it's a logo, but it's good enough :p (his username on fiverr is "zetman92" in case anyone's interested ;) )...

Also if someone else makes it you can't make any changes to it.
Not ~totally~ true... some folks over at said website above will offer a limited or unlimited number of edits until it's too your liking. You just have to read the description - the devil's in the details ;) ...

I totally agree that doing it yourself will sharpen your skills, etc., but every once in a while one or two things have to be bumped up to the next level, so if that's what you got to do, that's what you got to do ;) .....

I know, but let's say you change your colour scheme, or want to adapt it later. You then have to cough up more money and hope the same guy is still around when you want to make changes and that he has the raw files.

...all starting at $5 :D ;) .

I created my own logo and stuck with it. It's pretty much the dutch flag with a American star featuring the Texas flag in it. Simple, yet functional! I think making your own logo is something you can do yourself if you have the means, but if not I would personally not be adverse to buying it from an artist either. Just as long as you get what you want!

not all designers are like that. i do not charge and i Convert all my staff to a file that anyone can open up and change if need be.

...some of those guys I mentioned will give you a Photoshop or otherwise file, too, when they're done ;) .....

Yeah. I've encountered a few people on Fivrr that do that. Some of them want as much as 50 bucks for the raw files. You just got to be sure that you read ( and understand ) what the deliverables are. You can even ask the people before commiting to the transaction. Most people don't know what to do with the raw files and prefer JPG, PNG, etc.

I agree with a few others. Making your own logo is a good way to brush off or learn new skills and programs that might be used in creating your logo. Also, it's a satisfaction factor knowing that you've done it on your own.
