Can I Safely Take Corners On This Tyre?

There's a flat spot on the center when I got the bike 5 months ago.
I didn't notice it until now and I think it's what is causing the "wiggle/shake" when I'm getting ready for a corner.

Also, how bad is this dent on my front rims? I got it like that when I bought it also. Somebody said it's not that bad but it worries me.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I've ridden on worse. We've got to remember that tires, and by extension wheels, are the only things coming in contact with the asphalt. Tire and wheel condition, along with brakes, shouldn't be compromised.
 
I can't make out your pics (on mobile), but if you mean flat spot from long straight road riding, then yes, it can be more difficult to get it tipped in to a corner. Worse when it's cold.

Just bear in mind, brakes and tyres are where it's at for safety on a bike, so do you really want to mess about if you're not 100% with your tyre?
 
What psi are you running and have you set up the suspension for you and you alone ?


How long have you been riding ?
 
36 front and 42 rear, and yeah I got the suspension setup for my weight.
I've been riding about 6 months now. My main concern is the front rims/wheel since I'm getting a new rear tyre anyway.
 
The dent on the rim is what most probably causing that slight wiggle sensation cause it's out of true balance, easily repairable by sports rim performance repair shops. I had the same type of dent, fixed it up no problemo.

If the tire is squared off at the edges then you probably can't save it, time for some new shoes.
 
Safety first! My dad's XJ900 had a wobble. However, he didn't tell me and I proceeded to take my hands off the handlebars to adjust my gloves. The handlebars immediately started to do the "mini tankslapper" and I had to grip em hard to stop. I told him later and he said "oh yeah, forgot to mention that"

Yeah, no worries dad, it's all good! LOL
 
i suffer from the same problem, 2/3 rds of my daily commute circa 70 miles a day, is on straight flat road, the tyre ends up squaring off way before the rest of the tread is any where near worn. I get used to the squaring off and know that the first little kick i get when tipping over is where it is passing the square off point, once leaned in the rest of the tyre is fine. BUT it does make riding in the wet and cold a lot harder as that little kick sometimes turns into a bit of a slide. The back wheel is not really a problem but when the front goes to flat i swap it out because it just gets to testing. As others have said on here...its just not worth messing with the tyres...also when you get that new tyre on it feels like bliss for a while...:)
 
Or get Michelin pilot road tyres, they help, not stop the squaring off it just takes longer to square off with it having a magical compound in the middle.

Tru Dat..that's what I am getting next... because even if you manage to round the tyres off, you are still left with a worn middle regardless. Have heard good things about the road pilot 4's

Not a huge fan of the Pilot road 4, yes they last but they seem to pick up a lot or road junk. Every week I have to pick at least one nail out and tons of glass and flint.
