So I've been testing a few things out. The audio completely sucks so I use my Samsung S8 as audio recorder, put it on my jacket's back pocket. I usually record ultra wide 1080p 60fps. Now I'm wondering if wide 24fps would be better? The camera is usually on my helmet but i sometimes put it on the tank. Files usually come at 60mbps rates, what's the best rendering settings on sony vegas 16?

YouTube has set bitrates for different resolutions, I record at 1080/60 or 1080/30 with a bitrate of 45Mbps. To get that to look good on YouTube, I have to upscale it to 4k at the same bitrate.

You can record at a low frame rate and upscale it on rendering to trick YouTube into letting your video stream all of its data. Remember the data we motovloggers gather per frame is huge because it is not just what we want to capture but all the other inconsequential details as well like cracks in the road and leaves on the trees.

So recording at a lower frame rate will be ok for lower movement but kick up the movement and that is even more changing that could get missed.

Give both a try on a couple miles of road and compare it on your machine raw. If you like the 24 then go with that and see if the audience notices without telling them.

Personally I like 60 and would love to go after 120 for when I need to slow the footage down.

By the way, here is the trick @HippoDrone and myself are referring to. It is very dull but informative. I think it even includes the test footage as separate videos for the viewer to compare for their self.

Same technique might work for 24 fps.
Another question. The action cams records in h264 right? Which makes the files a bit big. Can i edit then render them in h265 to make files smaller? Or it doesn't work that way?

Sure! Although I am not readily finding what the throttle limit on h265 by YouTube would be.

Seems like the videos from action cam rendered at h265 has the same file size as h264 so there's no advantage. Hahaha
