Brakes locking up and crash

I've posted this in the squidding thread in General Moto Talk but I think this is a good lesson in monitoring distance during a group ride, as well as wearing gear. My friend who crashed would rarely wear gear like an armored jacket but luckily for him he did this time. Bad road rash on his knee though. Jeans do not stand up to crashes!

Unlucky for him but this is a popular occurrence for us riders. Hope he's alright and the bike isn't too bad.

Also there was a gravel patch that was there that didn't help him out either...

Yea, is ok now, but im pretty sure he has been sore for the past few days. Poor Ninja though, it was really scratched up.

I agree Nerb. The ABS on my Monster has saved my ass a couple times in unexpected gravel. I wasn't a fan of it at first but I love it now.

I know, im just 'ancient' and 'old school', i dont have any bikes with ABS and dont want atm.
But in sayin that ive NEVER had a panic session on a bike with it.
So, it 'was a Joke' haha.

Know all about the system etc. Im a fan of NO Pc running my bike!!
If my brakes 'Half work' they STILL WORK, no sensors here!!

I guess it's one of those things that you don't need it until you need it. Then you're glad you had it! (or gutted that you don't have it and your bike is laying on the floor all busted-up!)

99% of the time you will never need it or notice it's there. But that 1% when the unexpected happens, it can really save a lot of pain!

Yeah I'm old school too and hated the thought of the intrusion but as I stated before it has saved me once or twice. Not even a panic situation. Just pea gravel in the wrong place at the wrong time. like monkeystrada said 'that 1% can really F up you day.
