Why are we all of a sudden having a go at Azzer lol
He's just stating an opinion which i fully agree with but without the arai part... If you can afford the £400 helemt get it, if not don't.

If you want to trust your head with something from lidl's fine i do believe me and Azzer are just saying we'd rather not .. lol

Thank you,

What does my Bank Balance have to do with you anyways? I will spend my money on how I please & what it will strech too, if I want the best I'll buy the best.

I don't know why people are trying to take a 'dig' I'm entitled to my own opinion aren't I or has that changed now?

Superwaldo theres a difference between 1 spelling mistake, 1 letter missing than gammar & spelling being completely thrown out of the window.

really not worth starting an argument guys, my 1st 2 helmets were cheap

Bullet (fullface) from carrefour, a French shop about 50€ (about £42)

was brilliant, compfy, warm, well vented. but I changed it after a van hit me. I landed hard enough to knock me out, no brain damage or bleeding, all is good.

Second one : crivit or something a flip lid and intergrated sun visor was from lidl 40€ (£33)

wasn't bad, just a case of a few loose screws on the visor and part of visor mount snapped after a year, survived a bird hit and no water leaks, not to loud. All in all not to bad.

current one : Airoh from a proper bike shop 150€ on end of year sale 250€ new (£125 and £208 respectivly)

louder than previous two (but not bad) light, good visibility and brilliant venting and visibility V compfy no bird hits yet, pin lock, ability to take off chin guard to be an open helmet, and antifog visor insert thing and space for Bluetooth lid set (not installed)

Sure lidl / other supermarket lids aren't the best but they honestly get the job done, I'd rather have my Airoh too, but if I didn't have a choice / funds I wouldn't hesistate in putting one on.

It's all about taste / preference just because you don't like 'em doesn't make them bad, as long as they have "C" or "EU" markings on the tag, then it's road legal => deemed safe for the roads.

hope this helps

I'm only stating my opinion with regards to the helmet, to me it's a cheap helmet & I wouldn't buy one.

If you want to then go ahead, EVERYONE has their own opinion.

just re-read what i said .. my bad i meant i hate the fit of AGV and Shoei ... Never tried arai .. lol don't know why i wrote arai....

I've spent more on a beenie, I'd advise anyone not to buy Lidl's helmets.

but you dident say i wouldn't you said i'd advise anyone not to buy a lidl helmet.

and

so you don't like people having a dig but its perfectly fine to repeatedly say my grammar and spelling is bad news flash mate i know im the one liveing with it.

and you allso said "I find it easier understanding a dog than what he writes." witch i find rude and offensive it s not my fault i have learning difficulties and i try my best, how would you like it if say you had a lisp or a speech impediment and evry time you uploaded a video i took the piss and said i can under stand a dog better then i can under stand you.

yes that is rude and i would not do that as we are all hear for a common intrest rideing bikes and talking to cameras.

If I was you id look up what advise means, It's a suggestion, like I've said about my helmet & others. I'd suggest you don't buy it but buy a better one. But if you choose to then so be it, I can't stop you but I can suggest. Can't I?

I first started this with advising people then I gave my opinion on them, I have a stutter if you want to know, it's not as bad as what it used to be as it was more nerves that caused it, it happens in my videos but I tend to delete that part out.

It's what people can afford & what people want to spend at the end of the day.

If you want to buy a £40 helmet, go ahead.

I think what Azz3r is trying to say is to buy the best your funds will allow, but he personally wouldn't be happy with a cheap supermarket lid, which is perfectly fine, if I had the money I would be the first to buy a 'top' helmet. but some cannot afford to spend that much.
Anything personal take to the thunderdome eh?

Sort off, Buy what you want, The way I see things is you get what you pay for. This is how I've always looked at things, so I'm only saying it how I see it. I'm not wearing it at the end of the day so entirely up to you.

This adds to the list of threads ive looked at on this forum, in the last month or so, that has ended in an argument,

We all have our own individual opinion, this mean's some will agree with what you/i say, and some will not, thats life, deal with it.

Arguing on a internet forum isnt big or clever, and very rarley has a positive gain for the site, imagine visiting this site for the fist time, and seeing the most active threads are mostly arguments, hardly a good advert for new members.

i will also add, that i remember reading in a previous thread that ToySoldier said he had learning difficulties, so give him a break.

just like to post my view as ive been mentioned on this thread.

I currently ride with a Shoei Raid II helmet, had it for about a year now and is still very comfortable, this helmet cost me £200.

However, the one i had before that was a cheap £40 on from J & S accessories, branded by "Dr Bike".

That helmet was fine, safety rating where all fine, and it was perfectly comfortable up until about 3 months after riding.

As if anyone watches me know, i ride pretty much every day so my helmets get a lot of use.

The Shoei's i find to be a much better fit, and mine is still comfortable today after probably a good 14-16k miles.

But i bought the cheaper one because that was all I could afford at the time, i then got a better paying job and wanted to see what a more expensive one was like, i was friends with the gear shop and they gave me some money off it (was meant to be about £250 i believe) .

In conclusion i would say that i do much prefer my Shoei, but as a relatively seasoned rider (at least id like to think i was), i would say that i wouldn't go back to a cheaper one. Im not saying they are bad for everyone, just me. Has nothing to do with the safety just purely down to the comfort.

And here endeth my post.

Think I should make a mention as well since my names been brought up.

You should buy the most expensive helmet you can afford since its meant for protecting the most important part of your body.

A cheap helmet is cheap because its crap. Sharp safty ratings only tell you half the story. Takes no consideration to what the helmet is made out of or the manufacturing process behind it.

I personally wouldnt buy any helmet that's not a fiberglass. No ones mentioned differences between fiberglass and polycarbonate yet.
If you can only afford a polycarbonate then get one, but fiberglass is far far better.

And more for that sharp rating, they didnt put a persons head in there to test it. It's not as accurate as actually crashing in one. Use it as a guide but never ever swear by it.

Bought the tank bag and a couple of pairs of the socks today. I have to say for £20 the tank bag is great. Never had a tank bag before and it took a little getting used to as it felt strange riding the bike with it on, even though I couldn't feel it or see it whilst riding normally, but I knew it was there. As for the socks, I've had socks before so nothing out of the ordinary there.

Went out to buy one of the tank bags after the video you made. Thanks for reminding me!

I agree, though, the tank bag is really good value. Well worth £20!

Bought a tank bag, thermal top and bottom and two pairs of socks.

The tank bag is really pretty damn decent, holds a good amount of stuff and stays put well enough.
Thermals are...well...thermals, they're warm and fit like a second skin.
The socks are proper comfy, nice bits of cushioning on them.

I know this thread was disappearing into the background but I thought I'd add my 2 penneth...

Every helmet sold in the UK needs to meet a basic destruction test standard.

I sell the Box BX1 in my shop that retails at £50 and it beat my retail £450 Schuberth in the sharp test and my customers have all commented on how surprisingly comfy it is for the price.

Before I tried the Schuberth C3 (which I've now bought another for my Tuono, I love it so much) I tried a Shoei flip, Shoei and my head just don't get on which is why I have owned 2 Arais previously. I wanted a flippy-front due to instructing and the freedom feeling I get when I stop without having to take it off.

Just think if you do crash, no helmet will stop you getting killed if you land wrong.

Years ago my £100 Nolan I used for car rallying was MUCH more comfy than my £450 Arai RX7.

Bearing this in mind, you do need to consider what you can afford, find comfy and what fits as tight as you can get it without it hurting or distracting you from concentrating on road dangers.
