2WV

@2WheelVandal
This is pretty old footage and is very distressing (probably the most distressing ive seen thus far). i am literally shocked at it. Looks like a typical case of 'SMIDSY'.

I for one am someone who learns from other people's mistakes (i watch a lot of these type of videos).

Ride safe out there all!

Skip to 2:46 for the shocking moment.

Yes this is sometime ago, nonetheless serves as a reminder that intersections are the most dangerous spots while riding, always, always, always, slow down and be prepared for anything, even if you think they can see you coming, they are most likely unable to judge the rate of your approach and will more often than not, think they can turn quicker than your approach. Not worth the risk over idiot car drivers. Ride safe safe ride.

Indeed a SMIDSY, but he was also doing double the speed limit and overtook a car before a junction.

Speeding aside,

Overtaking near a junction. Not recommended.

Being in front of a car reduces yoir visibility.

Wooded area with subdued light reduces your visibility.

Add back in going DOUBLE what the other car is expecting...

The biggest injustice was the penalty handed to the car driver. If he'd been doing the limit, he'd have been nowhere neat the junction, and even if he had, if the car driver hadn't seen him in the extended time to arrive there, he'd have quartered his braking distance and reduced the speed of impact or even better, swerved around the car.

There is no easy way to make this sound like I'm not a asshole, however

The SMIDSY in this case is the rider not the car.

At the speed limit that accident would most likely have not happened.

Smidsy from both the rider and the cager.
Too bad the rider died on impact. It was a hard hit.
The biker should've known and anticipate it that people could do this type of stuff, but even so he shouldn't ride that fast either.
I'm not saying he deserved it, but it sure is stupid to do this kind of stuff.

I don't think it was the riders SMIDSY because clearly, he saw the car. This is one of many reasons when a car is looking to go major to minor across my path i make sure my daggers burn their irises out with eye contact. I also slow and move over to the left because i just don't trust them and more room to maneuver around them incase it goes bad is never a bad thing. Speeding or not, the car still pulled out. if its was a case of SMIDSY if the rider was going the legal limit, would the car still of pulled out? guess we'll never know.
