Why I wear a helmet camera
Whenever I get asked why I have a camera on my helmet, I wish I could show people these kind of incidents...

It's hard to believe that a driver in Swindon doesn't know how to use a roundabout!

I've seen worse, it's when they keep coming round the roundabout you need to start worrying!

Yeah it's a wide roundabout so wasn't too bad. Haven't had someone do that whilst I'm on the bike. In the car a few times though.

I'm actually shocked by the amount of bad driving I've seen over the past few weeks. I'm not taking any chances so I've got my camera mounted on both helmets and my cars dashboard! Only thing I've picked up is a cyclist waving at me because I waited on him passing.

Haha thunderous71 - I'd have loved to have been in that van to see the driver's reaction when they realised where they actually were...

AlfistiKid - I'm not sure really, I think there's a conspiracy of bad driving against me. I have witnesses that will attest to the fact that, through no fault of my own, I get a disproportionate number of motorised interactions with wazzucks!

Vauxhall Corsas seem to have a problem with me, they always try an crash in to me, hate them!

I got hit while on a YBR three years ago. The claim went to court and it took 2 years for a 8 minute court case where I had 4 witnesses, not one said I was in the wrong! The lorry driver had 3 witnesses that said I was in the wrong, however all 3 were ok a lunch break behind a sales board and in a portacabin (those massive adverts on the road) that blocked the view of the road (they all worked with the lorry drivers company)

The lorry driver (excuse my French but if you get hit, don't pick a lorry as it fucking hurts) lost his UK licence and got fined £250 which was supposed to come to me. Never got it

If I had a video if wouldn't have even got to court and my claim would have been paid within weeks not years

Although the misses appreciated a brand new kitchen

I thought that witnesses had to be independent anyway? The guy I took my DAS with said one of his students got hit by an overtaking car - but the police declined to take it further as he 'knew' the victim...

That's why I got the camera to be honest. Even whilst ON my DAS I would get cut up, pulled out on all the time! It was crazy - but also great experience as the instructor was able to show me how to deal with it.

The closest of calls I've had has been fairly tame as I've seen it coming but as I'm sure seomers can prove, you can't stop every idiot from running into you...
