Audio Question Audio Keeps Peaking

I think peaking is the right term so I have an Audio Technica 3350 mic that alot of people seem to like but I have it set up in my helmet 3 different configuration and in all road going test it keep peaking out and just picking up crackling noise, is this because the wind sock it comes with is crappy, is it defective, etc. I'm assuming because is is peaked there is no way for me to save the audio is there?

What camera are you using? People with GoPros have issues with the adaptor, and would be where to start looking.

Can you try the mic on another recording device? Try and see if the issue is the mic or the device? And try another mic into the recorder?

Maybe not a direct answer you were hoping for but it's all a process of elimination.

Maybe your battery is dead? wrong way round?

I replaced the battery and mad a wind sock from a microfiber cloth this morning and the audio came out better, though the ride was cut short due to other issues so I'm not sure I will test again this weekend and go from there.
