However, just because they have bought them doesn't mean they'll be changing anything!

They won't come in & make a complete overhaul of Ducati's bikes, they will have a massive input on them now though.

BMW's are a prime example of bikes made to last, Ducati's have a very expensive service bill because their parts are so expensive to make & get hold of.

So with Audi having input, they will narrow down the amount of services a Ducati has to have. They will always be a luxury bike, but now they will be more reliable thus cutting down on services.

The won't get close to the Jap's reliablity but, will be alot better than before.

Not that i will be buying a Ducati anytime soon, but for those who do i hope they do not move the manufacturing plants to India or China. Audi have many plants, two of the main ones are in China and India. Judging by the quality of chinese scooter and motorbikes, this would not be a good move. Maybe Audi will understand the luxurious good that is a Ducati and keep the quality high, or maybe even improve it.

You say that but Triumph using Chinese manufacturing plants and they have no problems :) It's all about quality control!

Um... Triumph has a twin plant in Thailand, but not so sure about one in China. Anyhow, you are correct about the Q/C issue - many Chinese companies are capable of building to any spec in modern manufacturing.

I have to admit taking a little pleasure in saying to a friend of mine who has an 848 - "Still enjoying riding that Audi?"... He came back with a decent enough response mind - 'Vorsprung durvch duknik" :)
