Are Reckless Vlogger Becoming A Problem?

People are stupid, some of us 'Think before we do something', but most just see someone do/buy something cause that other guy did, and they just HAVE TO do it too.
How else do any of you explain 'Justin Beaber', 'Planking' or 'FaceBook' popularity??

People will allways try'n out do the previous Gen, look at 'Schoolies'. In my day we'd run a muck round school, flour bombs, water fights etc. innocent stuff, then it was off school, now its interstate and even inter-national, and you 'Have to get Drunk,Stoned+KingHit by someone', otherwise you are just not the shit!!

In my opinion ANYBODY that puts a vid on YT doing a wheelie on a modern bike IS A PUSSY and A SOFT COCK, get out on a 30-40yr old bike and do one, maybe a Scooter/Postie bike(ct110)?, A bit fukn harder huh?

SO easy to do shit and to easy to get into shit with a modern bike. DONT start me on LAMBS(size to age restrictions) 600cc for a newby, no-wonder the police have great stats on motorcycle 'Hoons' in this country (mostly 18-26y/olds).
The avg 600cc will do 180kph+, and have plenty of torque for Wheelies/etc., and they give it to 'KIDS' to 'Learn' on?? WTF!!.

Yes i have contributed to that stastistic but on a 250cc!! (biggest bike u could ride in 1986 (1979 KwakaZ250A), the most speed i could get was 120kph(SCREAMING), wheelies were NEVER an option lol. NO YT in my day, BUT we still did our Hoonish shite. You never heard of it tho, cause it was only bad 'IF' MrPoliceman just happened to be driving bye. But we learned howto Crawl before we could RUN on Bikes.

And with all these people doing all this stuff, NOW the electronics era, Cameras+YT=INSTANT wanna-bee rockstars!! Until the fame+attention catches up and like GhostRider etc. they pay their dues afterwards.
So go film it, but just watch whos watchin YOU!! and dont have a Cry to Mommy/blame it on something/someone else, when you crash/get caught, BE A MAN!!

Their will ALLWAYS be a 'Next person' to do more, go higher, be MORE dangerous than the guy before, BUT just remember, YOU are the CopyCat? If its genuinely original GREAT, i LOVE originality, learn that Craft, I just Fukn HATE people who just do the same old shite that someone else did b4, JUST to get the 'Spotlight' on em.
"Oh Look someone else doin a Wheelie on YT" (YAWN!!)

My favourite vids are on your last trip/road you went on, stuff u bought, Opinion you have on..., Blue tongue lizard you found (ScooterHoonLoL) Etc.
Be ORIGINAL, not just another YT wanna-Bee with 2Gazillion subs overnight, that'll NEVER pay the hospital bills for your CopyCat antics.
If you are the kinda person that 'Asks' your subs for money, maybe you should just buy a wagon and go sell your 'Snake-Oil' elsewhere?? Or just become a Politician? cause their just as Open handed as a begger. (a Begger is content with what he/she has)

Whoever commented earlier that 'Police will crack-down on us 'motorcyclists' for the YT stuff, DONT PANIC, they can take my taxes, but theyll NEVER TAKE MY FREEDOM!! (movie Braveheart) Itll never happen, too many 'normal riders' out their for it to be stopped.
But i think Police will STILL Find+Fine some 'Examples' out their, to 'Curb' the ideas of the majority of society.

So evry Generation, every age, has its Hoons+Hooligans it Rioters and Fascists, its Entertainers of mankind, all those copy-cats that are just doing stuff thats been done b4, BUT in their own special way/style/flair. Going for their '15min of Fame'. EVERYBODY wants to be 'remembered like James Dean'. And Social Media today is making it EVERYbodies business, cause its in everybodies Face.

Its NEVER an excuse for an individual, for NOT thinking about His/Her actions. You do have a brain yes?? Then you CAN think it through till its end/conclusion!! You still wanna do it?? You wanna film it?Put it on YT? Now isnt that just YOU craving your 15min??
Me, Yes.
So...Be mind-full of the impressional 'Child-like' audience you have, atleast have WARNINGS etc., if the 'Dumb-Ass' attention seekers wanna still do a 'wheelie & crash', go right ahead.
More Road for me to play on, wenu Fukitup & Givitup!! Just dont involve me in it.

Id LOVE TO find the fukrs who thought it was fun to pass me on my Inside, ona series of tight left+right corners, at high speed, i saw the cameras (IDK who, havnt seen footage on YT yet) but if it was dedicated YT footage?
Watch what happens when i do catch-up and pull you over, Next Time, to 'Talk to you' FUKN RESPECT for fellow riders OK!!!!
(Dont panic, no-one from here :D )

I think i might be getn a bit 'Grumpy' in my old-age?
Thats my 'Mouthfull', I might go and yell at some kids on the street. Bye.

Why can't we be friends

You need 2 or more points left on your licence to be my friend. I'm afraid you don't qualify. Isn't that jail time next time you're caught hooning? And you will get caught, because you're not mature enough to realise that your licence isn't a toy.

.... Hrrrrm ... What was that famous line from the movie Cool Hand Luke ?.... Slipped my mind!?

ARL-

Once again, we all know you openly admit your general disregard against me, time will come when i am in UK i will invite you to discuss your rant's in person. I have no
hatred or disregard against you, its you who seem to have this idyllic image of the perfect rider on youtube based on illogical presets that are aimed at me.

Dafuq is that even supposed to mean? I have illogical presets aimed at you? How do you aim a preset? I have an idyllic image of the perfect rider aimed at you? What?

While you're here Pete. Have you any actual response to this topic? You must get a lot of comments asking to recommend bikes for 16 or 18 year olds. Or comments saying "I can't wait to get my licence." Does any of that bother you? I know you've since left your job in emergency services, coincidentally after being caught doing a wheelie in traffic, but did it ever affect you receiving calls about motorcycle accidents?

Any response? Or can't you find a meme that fits?

Well while Pete and his very best friend in the whole wide world cluck at it I'll add my opinion to this subject. Basically I rekkon we put this in the same catagory as idiot car drivers. Except for the fact that we all film ourselves. But my point is there are good and decent car drivers out there who always indicate and shoulder check and take care of their cars etc etc. Then you get the idiots who street race, do burnouts, drifters etc etc and they get the negative press. Same can be applied to bike riders. There are the good responsible riders (and vloggers), then you get the holigans. It's par for the course and you can't really stop these idiots doing what they do. Deep down we all have a bit of hooligan in us and the fact that's illegal in most if not all places gives it a bit of a thrill to do that burnout or see how fast you can go it's the sensible side in us that mostly tells us not to do it everywhere, go to the track to do it , and not to put it up on YouTube if you did it on the street cause it may be used against you.

I may get some stick for this, but I regularly get my knee down hooning around Britains roads. Sometimes in excess of 130mph. In fact quite regularly in excess of 100mph in a large group of Motorcyclists. I've filmed us doing this multiple times (All but one of which is unlisted so only our group can see it). I record it because our group of 100 or so stunt and sports bike riders like looking back and seeing the crazy shit we do. We have 3 police officers who are a part of our group all of which recognize the 'Time and a place' mentality. We do not do wheelies down the high street, we don't do stoppies in town or race around town. We get our knees down on country roads, wheelie in private carparks or quiet industrial estates on a sunday evening and have a fantastic reputation with the local police force attending Motorcycling Matters meetngs with the local police and council, many of us are IAM or RoSPA and do all the police bike safe courses etc.. I'd say 90% of our group have a motorcycle as there main method of transport so we do differentiate between work and play or commuting and stunting.

To be honest with you I don't have the testes for wheelies, never have done but I'm more than confident in popping a big stoppie or going around doing one handed or two-up knee down on the road or round the local roundabouts but for the most part I just record the other guys enjoying themselves and let them watch it back because its great being able to see how you ride and the cool tricks people can do.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4o6GvXzi3w
Thats one of our videos and as you can see through town its all pretty sensible, all the wheelies and such are done on a closed off Industrial Estate with permission from the owner of the motorcycle shop there who comes out gets a brew on with us and watches everyone enjoy riding there bikes.

Man your videos suck... no crashes, no cops, no land rovers hehe.

Yea every biker at some point will do the Sunday run shall we say but what I think the main view of the topic is the way some and its a few at the moment just ride with a disregard to other road users etc as they now think its cool as thats what all the cool dude on the internet do!

In the last 3-4 years I have noticed scooter riders in London taking more and more risks when they ride. The majority of crashes I have gone past are scooters too and nearly in all cases L plated. The problem is it will come back to bite us all. The laws for bikers are getting tougher and tougher and soon you wont be able to mod a bike without having to get it all vetted again etc even a different from standard exhaust. "Because that what hoons do to their bikes so we shall stop that!" not to mention just clamping down on bikers with cameras in general.

Some have tried to hijack this a jealousy topic at people pissed at only having a few subscribers when bad/skilled riders have more but in all honesty the original vein of the topic has some merit.

True and Arl look like Shizuo and Izaya from DRRR!!. Not because of the way they look but because how they fight.

Sorry about that, the little otaku inside me got out of the cage. It has been a year since I locked him in.

Now to the topic.
Reckless vlogging gets the views but is part of the way YT works. We already saw that topic "Unless I crash, my subs don't care".
It's all metrics. A crash will get more views because it's a recurrent topic that people get to the tubes to watch because it's entertaining. Sometimes the attention span of the viewer is limited to a small ~30 seconds crash clip and won't watch for example a 5~10 minutes motovlog. You can spend an hour watching short crash clips but will think twice when presented with a 3 minute vlog if you're not in the mood to watch a vlog.
Making and uploading a crash video can get you a thousand views and some people will even subscribe because of that. They may get to watch your other videos but if you fail to catch the viewer's attention on the other stuff you do besides crashing, you'll get views but no audience retention. They'll close the video sometimes without even getting past 30 seconds.
This problem has many faces, the content maker gets desperate to get subs and attention and will make whatever it takes to get that, reckless riding, crash, near misses, wheelies. When he uploads that it'll get the high number of views it's supposed to get because "hot topic" and "quick satisfaction" for viewers. Some people which are not into vlogging may like that content but when you need to fill your channel with another kind of content because you cannot keep crashing 24/7, you'll get a lot less attention.
Also, some types of reckless riding are thrilling for riders and viewers, it causes subconscious reactions and that's what gets people hooked on that content.
Someone can say that wheeling a bike is innovation? What about stoppies and stunts and high speed riding on public roads. That's not innovative. Not at all. You saw the same thing over and over again, different riders, different bike but it's the same. And that's another face, YT channels go up when they're innovative or get viral, a crash has some viral essence. You can get a few crash vids here and there and feel like everyone likes all your content and that's not the case, you can measure by views. A thousand on a crash, fifty on your commute to work. If you don't come up with something new, your channel will drown.
Now, to get to the point, there's a lot more to say about a video than view count and subscribers. Sometimes people use the wrong stick to measure. It's up to the vlogger to get the data that really matters. You cannot keep a crash channel up unless you're not the one who is crashing (think about some mouse). Or you can get reckless once in a while to get attention and get people to browse through your channel, then try to hold on that attention by providing quality, watch-able, interesting content.

Wish this would happen a lot more often for all of these guys.

like is been said before in this thread reckless riding=hits and subs. getting busted by cops=insane hits and subs. crashing a bike=100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 views and subs. haha

although i dont condone riding reckless. your life isnt worth a couple views on youtube

Hmmm - really great topic, interesting.

To me the answers are simple:

Ride your own ride
Vlog your own Vlog
Watch only what you're interested in

I know there's plenty of reckless stuff out there - when I started I viewed a few wheelie fools etc. a few times and usually ended up watching road rage in Russia, somehow.

I have just over 100 subs, and I sub to just over 100 - I find it hard enough to keep up with that number, but I find the communication between us all to be immensly valuable - that's what's in it for me! There are a small amount of sites that actually help me to learn to ride safely (thank goodness, because the licence system doesn't) and there are sites that help me learn how to look after my bike. There are vloggers who make me laugh and also share some great times, stories and information with me.

There are enough reckless dick-heads in the world around me without me feeling the need to find them on-line as well!!

I always get told i am trying to "glorify bad riding "

What i can't understand is why people think i intentionally ride like a fool JUST for views / glorification when this is how I've been riding for over 10 years i just decided to press record,
If i posted my hard riding vids on youtube that XxxTrue guy would have a stuffy for years hahahaa.

ON a side note for anyone else reading this,

just because a rider seems to be wreckless, or a hoon doesn't mean that rider has little or no skill. Some of my best riding buddys are all track day veterans and love a run on the streets. no way would i ever start posting videos of 5+ riders all doing 190kph in 60 zones etc.

while you guys are hating on each other I am just trying to Vlog :)

I get my full license soon, I fear I may do some unproved things :P

EDIT: I have no idea who is/dislikes who btw

its cool if you have experience and your not just some squid in a tee shirt and jeans blasting down the road on your 1000cc. i wasnt trying to put every one with experience on blast it just seems like every one with the hoon videos are newer to riding and over do it to the point its not safe any more. if you can do it safe and dont exceed your limits go hard. i just start to have a problem when i see videos with the people shooting gaps on the highway that if the car even thinks about moving a little bit in the lane the rider gets hit. or you're doing high speeds though heavier traffic.

So, what do you guys think about the point of...If you have 10k+ subs, you have a certain amount of responsibility for the people who look up to you , idolise you? You are famous in their eyes and they WILL copy the things you do.

So it's all very well saying, "I don't force them to ride like me", because indirectly you do with some people?

That's the thing you notice too isn't it? You get the kids coming on to your channel after getting if GTA5, saying "I can't wait to get my bike, I'm gonna be a great rider like you".

Also, has anyone actually been busted through their YT videos as yet? I worry about some stuff I may have done, albeit minor?
