Anything Better Than Vegas Pro?

I love the software. I really do.
But she's a bit messy, isn't she?
Anyone got suggestions on a better program, with comparable function and editing ability, but less clutter?

Adobe Premiere Pro is the most common Windows based editing suite but it's a rolling monthly subscription rather than a one off payment.

It's a fantastic piece of kit, and the industry standard, but I use Vegas as I prefer one-off payments and not the subscription model.

I've heard good things about Cyberlink Powerdirector. Never tried it. I'm stuck with Sony Vegas 10 until I can get a better computer.

I assume you get automatically moved to the new version if you sub, but sometimes there's no need to upgrade. Or as I used to do, wait for it to be cheaper on Amazon :)

I dont mind subs. As long as its not contracted. If I'm done with a program after a few months, it was probably much cheaper to only pay 10-12 bucks a month, than 300-500 up front.

I use Sony Movie Studio Platinum. It's a step down from Vegas, but it does all the same stuff without the crap you don't need.

cyberlink power director seems ok... i've tried it but a long time ago.. as far as adobe premier goes... if you're ok with it just bootleg it .. that'll save you the monthly subscription lol

I've always liked Pinnacle. Solely to the fact it's what I was brought up using, so it's what I've always stuck to. Does the job perfectly and £100 for the 'ultimate' package.

I use sony vegas too, I've watched a tutorial on final cut pro or adobe after effects i cant remember which but it looked way better for someone like me, I'm a graphic designer so I've spent bizillions of hours in photoshop etc. if i could just move video and manipulate visuals like i do graphics in photoshop the sky would be the limit. I'll get as good as possible with vegas though for now, I'm still learning.

if i was starting out again that's what i'd do... i've got the next version up so don't mind the complexity as i've got the extra features i use occasionally. but i can understand it makes sense to start out with something easy and uncluttered. the usual problem though is when you start wanting to clean up audio tracks or mix effectively as basic programs often fall down in that area.

i forgot to mention, one of the good things with sony vegas is fo course you can download a trial version from sony to have a look at first.

and if it is the basic version you can buy that as cheap as $35 on the usa ebay for a legit copy.

Movie Studio Platinum integrates into whatever audio editor you want to use. I use Audacity for any audio cleanup work or just use the tools and filters in Studio itself. It only looks simple on the surface. It has like 90% of what Vegas Pro has. It's just missing some of the add-ons for stuff like 3D transitions and surround sound.

IMO, unless someone is already a BIG vlogger making fat ad revenue, it makes no sense to start out with a subscription software suite like After Effects or $600+ Vegas Pro unless they don't mind sinking way more money into their hobby than they'll be making until they get loyal subscribers and reliable view counts.
