Hi all,

New to the forum. Hoping to squeeze plenty of knowledge of the group in the future but first wanted to know how you go about recording sound and if some of you are using dictaphones? Odd, maybe, but having looked through the forum it would appear most are using phones. I tried my Pixel 3 today and it was terrible when mic'd up. So I'm thinking.. a dictaphone could be the answer. I've done a few with my old Go_pro 3+ however I've upgraded to the new DJI Osmo Action and as of yet, no audio input.

I'd be interested to hear your views. Thanks all,

Tom

A few of us use the Tascam DR-05. There are some threads about it quite recently.
I only really use mine on trackdays as can't run a helmetcam so stick the recorder in my pocket and run a mic into my helmet.

Ah I heard something of the like but as far I was aware these was not yet available. I will keep on hunting. Thanks for the replies gents.

Personally I just use the 3.5mm audio port on my Drift Ghost S. I was going to do the whole separate audio stuff with a different camera but couldn't be bothered with the fuss.

Just a quick thought if you're not using you Hero 3, just mic it and throw it in your pocket and use it as a mic. Just remove the video feed but keep the audio feed in editing

Great Idea. The whole camera and audio is a massive ballache for me. Thought it would have been simplified by now. But that's a good idea!

I really can't be bothered with external audio. I know it would be an improvement on what I have now, but I also know I'd be worried about it working most of the time.
