London According to Twitter....

I tweeted them and they tweeted me back... Apparently they are starting up a Video Portal just for MotoVloggers..... No idea if there is any kind of monetorization with that though....

Seems to be US based from the image

Looked up whois, couldn't find anything much but it backs up it's US based!

The registrar is in Canada. I think it's in Japan.

Haha there's me getting my Geography wrong. I thought Toronto was in America for a moment for some reason even though I knew it was in Canada

I asked them on twitter what they intended to achieve that here doesn't already and the response was very very vague "It's a pretty tough question. You'll just have to wait till July to find out!".

I get the feeling maybe they didn't know this place existed, and if they didn't that's shocking pre planning! Anyway, for any real answers we do have to wait till July, I just hope this won't mean some of us are on here and some of us are on there, effectively splitting the community which would really be a bad thing!

Well my reply said it was a video portal for vloggers..... So uploading also? oooo I'm so intrigued :)

They're not vloggers, this is the first thing they have done in the community, the site is just about pointless and they're in it for the money "With a joint combination of 8 successful businesses under their belt, Dominic and Tiago know a thing or two about business - If you'd like to work with us, have an idea or would just like some simple advice, shoot us an email to biz@motovlogs.com. We're not currently selling advertising space, but if you feel as though your offer is hard to refuse, contact us at advertising@motovlogs.com."

Motovlogging is not a business, it is a hobby, and these guys seem to think there's an opportunity to make money off our videos, doubt i'll be letting them host any of my videos there.

Hello,

I'm Dominic and I co-founded the site. I've created an account just to reply to this as you probably gathered. First of all, let me first point out something of significance in the original quote you ripped from our site - "We're currently not selling advertising space". It's not something we're planning on doing either. Myself and Tiago are simply trying to build a bridge in the Motovlogging community. Other than stumbling across tagged videos and responding to shoutouts, how are people meant to discover new vloggers? We hand pick videos we like and videos that are submitted to us to promote vloggers free of charge.

Secondly, motovlogging is indeed a hobby but so is singing for example - does that mean shows like the xFactor shouldn't exist because it's an 'opportunity to make money'? What about music promotion channels? They're doing the exact same - promoting other peoples' content. We're not in it for the money - the vlogger gets paid, not us - if/when you manage to get a YouTube partnership, you'll actually get money from YouTube every 1000 views or so. We don't benefit from this at all. The iframes we've embedded in to the site work just the same as YouTube's on page GUI.

You are of course entitled to your opinion and, if you like, I'll make sure that none of your videos are posted to the site. Thanks for your feedback.

Regards

Dominic

I do hate these quote discussions but hey. Do let me just point out that i'm not against the idea, it's a good thing to have this site, but there are several key issues with what you just said.

1) I already monetise my videos
2) If you're so against advertising, why even have the "but if you're going to offer us loads" bit?
3) Why tell us how successful you two are at business if you're not intending on turning it into one?

I just don't see why you guys get to handpick all these videos, surely if the point is to show people loads of vloggers to follow you need to show as many videos as possible, not just one's that meet all you guys criteria? Vloggers have different styles, most of us don't even care how popular our channel is.

I'm afraid at the moment i feel that this site just misses the mark, which is why i asked you whether you were vloggers or not, how long have you even been following motovlogs? Do you comment on videos?

I'm sorry for all the questions, and how negative this seems, but at the moment i'm really concerned that you two are in this for some alterior motive and not for the good of the community, prove me wrong and i'll use the site :)
