Anyone Else Play Guitar?

Hopes he doesn't crash this month
Just wondering how many fellow motovloggers play guitar. I've played for about 18 years now and these days I do more collecting than playing sadly. What about you?

I've played bass for about 20 years but I plunk around on the guitar a little. Right now I have a Gretsch 5120 and a Vox VT120 amp. I just got a Compton Titanium bridge for the Gretsch and it sounds cool, but I'm going to have to have the bridge pinned so i haven't been playing lately.

Sweet! I picked up a Blackstar HT40 last year. My first tube amp. Really digging it. I mod pretty much all of my guitars. I built one from parts last year as well, which was pretty fun.

I have a guitar doubling a an exceptional dust magnet. I started a few years back but learning/playing on my own got boring and eventually just stopped learning.

20+ years but not nearly enough these days as I used to. Too many hobbies too little time.
Oh, I know that man! I play guitar, work on cars, work on guitars, play video games, build guitar pedals, make videos and have now started tinkering with a DIY drone. With a toddler and infant at the house, there is 0 time for any of it really.

I try but will always suck at it. I play on guitar hero though, at least I can finish a song on that :D
I was never good at Guitar Hero. I always said that if I could play a real guitar and the actual notes of the song I'd be good. So, when Rocksmith came out I jumped in heavy. It's awesome and tricks me into practicing when time allows.

I've been playing 30 plus years and have 5 or 6 guitars. Two of witch were built by me and my dad. My dad plays and builds guitars. He is a thumbpicker Chet Atkins style. I learned some thumb picking, classical, and then rock/heavy metal.I also started on keyboard back then and still play all of them a bit. If it's musical I'll pick it up. What need a drummer will do. Lol

Know the feeling (lots of hobbies on your mind, yet little time to get involved in any/most of them)! With children too....

I don't play Guitar however did learn when I was younger. Unfortunately never stuck at it.

Current hobbies, the motorbike, plus R/C Planes / Drones (too). ;)

I play both bass and regular as a hobby. Hard to believe that as relaxing riding can be, there are days at my job so horrible that I must turn to another hobby just to mellow out.

My wife got me an electric guitar last Hanukkah. I don't know one end of it from the other! She also got Rocksmith for our PS4, but the kids always seem to be playing GTA or whatever so I haven't had much chance to try it. Honestly I don't even know where to start!

That's nice of her. I was "playing" songs using TAB (Tablature) to get into it quickly - but this is cheating really. You are better off picking up a "Learn Guitar" book, learning the primary chords, and progressing from there. I imagine it would be a slow start, but once you get good at switching between chords swiftly, songs should come together. ;)

The internet has a MASSIVE wealth of material for playing the guitar. Just start searching.

A final thought. You can pickup books based on music bands / artists, which lays out the chords to playing some of their most popular songs. For example, the Beatles, heavy metal bands, etc.
Doing it this way might increase your initial interest, plus reward (as you begin to learn to play the famous songs).

..........do you have a good singing voice??? :D

You do NOT want to hear me sing!!!

But seriously, thanks for the advice! I haven't had much time for it but with winter coming I might pick it up to keep my mind of not riding.

I have both Rocksmith and Rocksmith 2014. Plus I can read tabs and still remember some notes. The Rocksmith is much easier and the original is better because of the concert progression. Then there is the Easter egg of it topping out at level 11.

I do like how the 2014 version will adjust more based on your skills so that it seems you are always just having to try a little harder.

If anyone is going with Tabs, I recommend Justin on YouTube. His videos are great in that they are easy. He has books and a website too. I believe he is currently in the UK but relocated from New Zealand.

Thanks goodness I live in a temperate climate. I cannot stand not riding. I go through withdrawals!

The guitar will help as will customizing your bike if the money is there.

I imagine a Guitar can be very soothing, for the mind, once you begin getting into it... Perhaps almost a remedy?

AFTER, the initial frustrations, missing chords (while learning).
