Ever hear a song that takes you to another time and place?

Decades ago I was riding late at night and happened to roll into Fredricksburg, TX on Main street. It was so late at night that not only were all the people gone from the streets, but it seemed like the sidewalks were getting rolled up for the night. My bike purring along and the night air made it magically calm.

Everytime I hear Riviera Paradise by Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble - I am carried back and can almost smell and feel the old bike again...

How about you? What takes you back to remembering the saddle no matter what?

It was my second trip up to Laconia Bike Week in New Hampshire. It was June 2015 and it was perfect outside; the sky was clear, 75 degrees and the rolling hills were so green it was almost cartoony. I don't even remember downloading the song but 'Dead Inside' by Muse came on shuffle in iTunes as I had gotten off of I93 and was riding on Route 3 towards Weirs beach and I remember thinking this moment is the exact opposite of what this song is about - I was so alive it was ridiculous. Then I stopped at a fireworks store - new Hampshire is awesome.

I rarely listen to music, while riding. The engine sounds just too good :p
But otherwise yes, several songs remind me some specific events from my childhood.

if I listen to a certain few tracks, they take me way back to that special place, and if I stay too long, I'd probably break down and cry...

I'm of the generation where I was in my teens and early 20's in the 90's.
Lately every time someone from that era dies it take me back.

That is going to be a bummer later in life. Better avoid the news as you age...

It was a bummer in the 90's when Kurt Cobain died.

Wasn't this a thread about something pleasant lol.

Yes the thread was about something pleasant. I fail to see how anyone's suicide is considered pleasant. Surely that is not what you meant "LOL".

However, if you are referring to how Nirvana influenced a subculture, yes their music was pleasant. I often play couple of the songs and reflect on the lyrics wondering if there was something that could have turned out different yet there still be that tinge of sorrow just beneath the surface of the melody and lyrics as they mesh or the growl of guitars.

At least for a brief while they took pain and made something positive from it.

My old '73 CB750 did not have a radio. Wish it did back then though. I am sure many a coyote in New Mexico thought I could have used some singing lessons.

I still don't ride with music, I've tried but prefer without.

In the car or truck tho, sooo much takes me back. I reminisce, and start talking. The wife can't stand it.

I go through phases in my car with music, I binge on an album until it bores me and then sit in silence for a few weeks until something else gains an earworm! :)
