Acceleration delay/lag

Hi guys, hopefully someone here has an idea of what this could be as it is cheaper than going to a garage I'm in no way mechanically minded so I will try to explain this as clearly as possible

For the past week or so, I've had an issue that when I'm in either 4th or 5th gear (5th being my highest gear) if I've been on full throttle for a while, then completely close the throttle, then full throttle again, I get this almighty acceleration delay! To the extent that last week after it happened, it was so noticable that a guy in a car behind me pulled alongside at the lights and asked if the bike was ok!

Whilst this delay is occuring, on the rev counter, they drop straight to idle range and then immediately return to normal, with no change in engine sound! It just makes the bike stutter like your running low on fuel, and then picks up again! It sort of feels like a turbo lag on a car where when you floor it, it takes a second while the turbos spools up, but this only happens after full throttle, to closed then open again!

My first thought was maybe the carb wasn't putting the fuel in correctly as power delivery is lumpy after it happens but I wouldn't have the first clue in what to do!

Deffinitally sounds like a fueling issue, might want to check the whole system from the throttle grip to the carb to make sure nothing is sticking :/ ...on seconds thoughts, have you done any modifications?

I'm no mechanic, but it sounds to me like you're twisting the accelerator too far too fast.

This floods the engine with too much fuel for it to deal with (I think) and causes it to stutter.

Try twisting the throttle slowly and smoother and see what that does. That's how you're supposed to use a throttle anyway - not completely off then on again.

I think my description is a bit wrong but certainly try being smoother with the throttle and seeing what happens.

I'll give it a try but the reason I did that a couple of times was where I live, birds have death wishes so have a habit of landing right in front of you and then flying off so In panic I slow down, they fly off so as I haven't lost any speed or revs, I carry on lol just the way I was taught

"Redline Fuel System Cleaner for Motorcycles" is a really good product that has solved fuelling problems for me before.

You just add it to your fuel tank and it cleans the system, I don't know if it would fix your problem but it might. If you do get it, add it to the tank when the fuel level is quite low (maybe less that half a tank) and ride it like that, it's more concentrated then so it works more effectively.
