A video per day for a month?

Drakhen99

The Forrest Gump of Motovloggers
I have 18 videos uploaded. 2 need thumbnails, but they're all detailed out otherwise. On top of that, I have 14 videos recorded... of which, at least 10 should be viable.

So, I've decided, with a push from @Dewey316 , to publish a video per day for the month of March. I have the first 7 scheduled [OK, 6, March 1st is done].

Now, the questions:

1. Has anyone else done this? [the motovlog.com anyone, not general YouTube - I know there are channels that have done this, I'm looking for evidence from US].
2. If you've done it, what were the results of it?
3. Is anyone interested in seeing the results of this?

Thanks!

There is a TON of websites and videos addressing this. Some are from sources that may not have a small creator's best interest in mind. Some advice may even give bad advice just so a channel experiences a bad time and drop out.

I have seen other channels in this and other forums attempt similar publishing. From what I read most reported poor results.

One of the common issues was audience burnout which negatively impacted the tracking of views and retention per video. Too many notifications to your loyal subscribers might be overwhelming.

Then was burnout of the creator and lack of content.

So where to get trusted advice on scheduling - I turned to this video to confirm or deny if publishing daily is a good idea or not. They are only interested in selling their advice to channels that keep running. So they want your channel to succeed and stay around vs. some others intents.

Thanks for that! I agree, there's a lot of advice out there, and not specific to motovloggers, so that's why I created this thread... and already we're on Day 2, and 1 person has commented that they're loving the topics and want me to keep going at this pace. It's not sustainable, that's for sure, but for a month? It might be OK.

I will reevaluate after a week and see how the videos are doing, and go from there I guess.

In the mean time, I'll watch the VidIQ video you linked - they're good people IMO, and give out solid advice. They reviewed a video of mine a couple months back on a livestream, very helpful stuff.

I struggle to keep up with content the channels I follow create as it is, I'd not be able to watch 30 videos from one creator in a month, even from my favourite channels...
I'll be interested to hear how it works out for you. Be good to compare stats on each videos views vs a more sedate schedule, and also if it gets you a noticeable increase in subscribers or not.

I totally get that - I struggle as well, trying to keep up with other peoples' videos.

I figure I cater to at least 3 audiences at this point, so they'll all get something to watch in the next 7, 10, or even 30 videos. I will update this thread though, when I have some data to share.

I have done for 3 years in a row a video each day from Christmas eve (so 24th of dec) till New years day ( jan first) without counting if sunday or wednesday was the day before or after that streak.
So I think my record was 10 days in a row after a triple day upload? (so 13 in 15 days)

In general more watchhours and views total. Per video a drop of views for sure.
Nobody was watching everything, so your views are more spread out across multiple video's.

Other then that, no real change, maybe a sub or 2 more then normally.

Thanks @Meifesto ! I had a feeling it would divide the views, so that's why I scheduled a little something for everyone so far... we'll see how it goes.

It's amazing [and probably should just be expected, but I digress] how everyone's experience is different on YT, even if they're copying the same strategy someone else did that worked.

It is also the whole play of what do your subs expect from you.

If you have always done 5 to 7 video's per week, then that is what subs know you for, and they are aware of the upload schedule and anticipate the video's.
If you always upload 1 or 2 video's per week and then go batshit crazy with 7 vid's per week people won't anticipated that, and might only check your channel out twice a week.
If youtube recommendations is weird (and it is) they might never see your other video's pop up anywhere ;)

I think at this point I've thoroughly confused my subscribers as to when to expect videos to be published :D

The first few days from this was looking good, but hit a wall today. I highly suspect it's the start of Daytona Bike Week here in the US... so it might not have been a good idea to start it this week. Oops.

Hey all, just wanted to give an update: After 1 week, I pulled the plug on this experiment. I think I found that my viewers can handle 3 videos per week, but not more. OR, and this is also equally likely: the video topics and styles were all over the place [vlogs, product review, recently-recorded, old...].

BUT, I did say I'd give an update... and since it's been 9 days since the first video was published, I will update again in a week, once I have equivalent data from each video:

I have cranked out a few more videos this week, so I'm still up to 16 ready to go. But, I'll space them out a bit more, and see if they do OK.

Now's the time to spend some time noodling fresh ideas and topics to discuss in upcoming videos - looks like we might turn the corner on Spring weather in a week, which means LOTS of riding, so LOTS of chances to record vlogs!

Man I could never do a motovlog each day for a whole month, that's a crazy schedule John! Which, of course, means it's right up your alley! :D
Yeah, except even I couldn't do it, so there's that. The viewership just can't support it, IMO.

Looks like M/W/F is a good schedule to keep, at least for my schedule... but now I know.

Hopefully I won't get backed up like THAT again...

Yeah, editing it is a pain.
But if the views drop it ain't worth it.

I tend to do W/S as normal uploads.
And if I have backlog or want to do somethign extra I through a friday in between ;)

That's a good plan - I think over the summer I will strive for something like that - 2/week, with a Davinci Resolve tutorial mixed in here and there as a bonus video.

Interesting findings - thanks for experimenting and reporting back!

I can’t imagine clogging everyday for a month personally ‍

I'm sure it's a typo, but I don't think I cloud clog every day either ;)

I still have collected some more data, and I'll be recording a talking head video on it... soon.

On the subject of daily posting - how on earth can anyone have a subject for each day, or would it be observations kind of deal?
I did some observations, some topic-driven stuff, and there's always a Davinci Resolve tutorial [or 3] to record and edit, to mix it up.
