A Separate Youtube Channel?

I have had my YouTube channel for years. At first it was just for me to make playlists of things I wanted to watch. I've been a photographer for 20+ years, so several years ago I reorganized and was putting my film work up on it. Now Im breaking into the motovlog sphere.

I have 1 motobvlog video up, hardly any views - to be expected as I never really cultivated my YT channel to begin with. However, before I start cranking out 2 or 3 uploads per week, would it really do me any good to create a new channel?

I have less than 100 subscribers, and got 4 or 5 recently just from the one vlog. I've reorganized my channel again for it to be motovlog centric, but this thought of creating another channel comes up.

Thoughts? Advice? Thanks for your time!

I recently had a similar question. If you already got started I see no reason not to keep at it, you are basically starting from scratch either way. And as you said, you already put up a vid and got some attention from it.
Make sure your expectations match reality, Its not expected that channels get a lot of views right off the bat. A new channel wouldn't get much either.

So, keep at it, grow the channel as if it was a blank. It lets people look into your past as well, which is a bonus.

Thank you F4celess, I appreciate you taking the time to give some input. I think thats the route I will go. Im in no rush, just didnt want to do the dumb thing first LOL Thanks again!

Yeap, there is absolutely no reason to open a second channel.

Big Youtubers have a reason because their livelihoods depend on it and they cannot afford to have a time where they cannot reach their subscribers if Youtube shuts their main channel down. I know a couple of anime youtubers have been getting strikes and their channels removed for no reason and they're now all creating duplicate channels and mirroring their subscribers over so their subscribers can still watch them if one channel gets busted.

But otherwise if you are not worried about strikes, it's better to keep all your content in one channel so that you can keep your sub base. If subscribers don't want to watch your film, they won't watch it, they'll watch your vlogs instead, and vice versa. And you can just aid them by creating playlists for your channel for easy navigation.

Although being busted and loosing the ability to monetise means you won't be able to monetise again if your adsense is taken away.

I kept my channel and didnt change. It was just a personal account with random videos on it. My channel is basically a recorded journey of my life and is what has got me to where I am so didnt want to change it when my audience changed and increased with bike videos.

Actually not really. Your Adsense is totally separate from your Youtube Channel. And each individual Youtube Channel of yours has it's own standing even if they were linked with the same GMail. One will not affect the other, unless your Adsense assets were totally frozen for gross criminal reasons, like uploading terrorist recruitment videos or snuff vids.

As long as you have another channel, you can easily bounce back again. No biggy.

what he said. Heck, my original youtube channel I had that I created adsense for, isnt even a channel anymore. i shut it down. Adsense was unaffected, and I now have 3 other youtube channels linked to it.

I decided to keep my videos separate, but that's just the way i like to do things, more-so so I can have things organised better.

I'm dealing with the same dilemma, and I decided to make a new channel. Yes, it will take some time to get subscribers, but I'm okay with that. I'm just doing it for fun really.

And I've got to figure out my AdSense stuff too as it's linked to an old email and I can't get info from it.

Is your current channel (name and etc), the one which you wish to use for your motovlogging? If yes, how about just making all the past videos as "private", that way you can start "fresh" but not really fresh, and become a motovlogging channel without losing your past videos.

You might lose some of the existing subs because of this switch, but it's the price if you're willing to do so.

SighBored, thats exactly what I did. I went in and cleaned up the channel tremendously. I have playlist on the landing page with my films below, motovlogs on tope, etc.

I know I'm probably the minority, but I upload everything from my life to my channel. I want it to reflect me, not what my subscribers want necessarily. That's what the unsubscribe button is for!
