A little help...from experienced riders to those starting

Hi Guys (and gals, obviously),

It's no secret from my videos that as well as running various companies and being in IT and Digital Graphics for a career, a few years ago I decided to use [too] many decades of experience in passing on skills to up and coming generations. As a result, I ended up teaching in colleges and universities around North Kent in the UK.

Starting in September, I'm expanding my hours with Mid-Kent College and while I've not been able to justify it in the past, the longer hours mean that I'm going to become involved in the extra-curricular activities as well.

My biggest commitment will be MEMO - a new motorcycle club that we are starting for anyone who rides in the Medway area and who has any form of connection with Medway education - whether that is as a student or staff member. Due to a sudden rise in work-load over the summer, my original launch date has gone out of the window and it will now officially be launched in late October.

There are lots of things planned for the club - everything from theory training to touring (i.e. gauged at the skill and riding type of those involved, such as local stuff for scooters and learner bikes, to foreign trips for the bigger bikes and more experienced rider), guest speakers, we are looking at talking to involvement by SMART and Kent Police (with whom the college already has a good connection) and an overall dedication to safe riding. One of the main aims of this is to 'catch 'em young'. Over the summer, I've seen too many young idiots riding around Medway in bare-skin, let along track-suits etc.

How you can help:

I'm in the process of finally getting the website up and running - it's in a sand-box on one of my company sites, but I'll release the web address for people to take a look at later once it's more configured.

I think that it would be really great if existing riders (and MotoVLoggers, by the very nature of their camera kit etc.) could take a photograph of themselves wishing these new riders luck for use in a special gallery. The idea being to capture student who are wavering as they take a look at the site.

It does not have to be a new picture, but something in far away lands (i.e. wherever you are), different types of motorbike use etc. would be great with the idea of a dedication behind it showing best wishes - this is all about good, existing riders setting good examples and showing newcomers what it should be like.

Any takers?

Either or, it's totally up to you. If you want to be in the picture, but remain anon, just do it in full gear. :D

Re: A little help...from experienced riders to those startin

Trouble is the kids wearing no gear won't want education on it, you can't really change how idiots think.

Re: A little help...from experienced riders to those startin

Wow! I think that club is an amazing idea.

I'll get you a picture, I've got loads.

Re: A little help...from experienced riders to those startin

Yeah i may have some pictures also pictures from my crash back in may, photos of injury to show how important it is to wear the gear maybe?

Re: A little help...from experienced riders to those startin

Great idea, I will participate.

Re: A little help...from experienced riders to those startin

Guys, a photograph or short vids is fine.

@dxeavy: Is that problem with your site for real?

Re: A little help...from experienced riders to those startin

I'm in, happy to support any form of education.

Re: A little help...from experienced riders to those startin

Persoanlly I think this is a really good idea, I started riding when I was 16 and the most amount of protection I wore was a helmet and boots. But 2months after turning 16 and being on the road he taught me a valuable lesson about gear, his riding experiance over 10years he's pretty much told/taught me everything on bikes. I ride a Rs125 (He taught me how to ride & suggested I buy it), (he suggested I buy a SV650 I'm now looking at a few to buy).

A little off topic I know but the moral of above paragraph is learning off more experianced riders is always better. I hope the people that attend this club have two braincells to rub together and really take it all in and understand how important it all is.

A good thing I do see/hear is CBT trainers have a helmet in half to show you everything about what would happen in a situation. (Don't know if they did this 5 or 6years ago aswell)

What your doing is a brill idea I'll be glad to help in anyway I can.

Yes, very real. Lately a lot of moto v-loggers have been targeted for some reason. I just wish I could find who's behind it

Re: A little help...from experienced riders to those startin

Once I've got the website running I'll either open a posting area or post an email address for people to use.

If people want to YouTube videos, then you can just pass me the link - to save bandwidth I'll be directly embedding the links in any case.

Thanks to everyone who's going to contribute to this.

More than happy to put something together for you. If you're going to be embedding Youtube links, I'll be creative ;)

Hi All,

My life has been a bit weird this last week, so it took me a little while to get things setup.

I've setup a temporary forum area on the web-site (note that the website is not on it's final domain name, and most of it is stubbed articles with temporary images in place), which allows you to post images and links to videos without needing to register.

- Go to the temporary sandbox domain at: http://memo.esferico.net
- The menu path is Interact > Forums
- The forum category can be found at Website Administration > Upload Area.

regards and thanks to all who have chosen to participate.
