Not a massive different in track times between them ;)

bends with the right rider, on a 600 will go past a 1000 - I have done a few times...list goes on
Indeed! Anyone can go fast in a straight line. It takes skill to maintain high speed through a turn.

Better gas mileage is a done deal for me. I love sport bikes but because i commute over 100 miles a week. I would not get a liter bike.

No doubt. I threw a BMC racing air filter, better spark plugs, full Yoshi RS-5 exhaust and a power commander with a custom tune on there, and still manage get 150+ miles per tank if I'm just cruising and not riding crazy. Meanwhile, my friends with liter bikes are spending more on insurance (WAY MORE), more on aftermarket/replacement parts AND they have to stop and fill up when my tank is just below half full. When it comes to bang for your buck and long term value, nothing beats a 600.

Also a -1/+3 gear change. That's probably what impacts the gas mileage the most.
