This guy really did his best to get in an accident.
I had a guy do this to me on an interstate on ramp. To be fair, I did cut him off like a douche, but then he went around me and slammed on his brakes. He had a tiny little car and I had a big old F150. Guess who came to a complete stop first? I barely knicked him and his rear bumper maybe had a tiny bit of paint transfer. He got out in a rage yelling at me while I asked if his wife was OK. He didn't give a shit about her, and she was pissed too and calling the cops. I didn't say much, because I was a bit in shock of how somehow could be stupid enough to intentionally cause an accident. The city cop arrived and brushed it off, said it wasn't her jurisdiction, and to call the highway patrol. By this time, the man had calmed down. We agreed that I would pay him $200 to fix his rear bumper, and I did pay him eventually, just to avoid any sort of lawsuit that this nutcase would file. I often times think about going back to his house and slashing all his tires and breaking out all his windows. Oh well, I bet karma was a real bitch to that guy.
Looks to me like a brake check as he was annoyed you beeped him. Interestingly, it's always been the case that if you hit someone from behind then it's your fault because you didn't leave enough room. But what if you have proof that the person did it on purpose? Would that still be your fault, 50:50 or their fault?
There's a "crash for cash" culture over here, get someone to run in to you then claim whiplash injuries. Worth a couple of grand or more. Government is trying to do something about it now, but it was their fault the let the no win no fee lawyers have too much of a free run. Reigned it in a bit now (I think), but as dash cams get more popular, it'll become less of a thing hopefully.Looks to me like a brake check as he was annoyed you beeped him.
