Passed Mod 1 First Try

After a horrendous lesson last saturdaycwhere I put my feet down on 2 out of 4 attempts at the figure of 8 and 2 out of 5 attempts at a U turn I've just taken my Mod 1 at Darlington (Tony as examiner)and passed with just 2 minors,1 for being 1kph under on the hazard avoidence(yes 1) and the other for locking the back wheel on my emergency stop of a millisecond(released and re-applied)Over the chuffing moon I am!!!!

GRats they failed me on MOD1 as my tyre touched the line on the U turn. MOD 2 like Swis said is easier!

Yeah it seems that way, just a ride out, as long as I do my obs and don't do anything stoooopid I think I'll be ok!

Don't worry about the bloke on the bike behind you on your mod 2 like I did, treat it as a normal ride, ride your normal ride, all should be fine!

To paraphrase Dan, once you pass your mod 2, you then learn to ride.

I failed my first attempt at the Mod 1 by completely screwing up the slalom. Looked where I wanted to go.. and didn't. The one time you want target fixation to do its thing, and it didn't ¬_¬

Just make sure you don’t do this....


I past Mod1 easy 0 Minors with 3 hours training. so I was very happy with that

mod 2.......

I was really calm and happy to be out, was leading the ride. Weather was lovely everything was going great!


The chap says over the radio I’m doing really well and all is good in the world, if I keep this up it’s in the bag, all I have to do it get back to the test centre………..


So on the way back we are crushing these lovely bends at 60MPH.


Over the radio I hear turning left at the next junction

James at the next junction we are taking a left….


And I’m in my own world just loving my life


Then I hear JAMES LEFT IN 20 YARDs (the t junction is after a blind bend) and I panicked slammed my breaks on in fixated on the opposite lane of the junction at end up the wrong side of the bollards…

all because i was enjoying the moment

At this point I was asked to park the bike up and walk back to the test centre ½ a mile…. The shame!!!!

Noted! I will not enjoy the ride too much and will listen at all times lol!
The thing is, if you had just carried on riding, he would have asked you to turn the next left or whatever and as long as you did it safely you'd have passed
Ahwell least you got it the second time!

Congrats! You could always move to the US where we'll give anyone a license. I have a buddy of mine who's ridden on a temporary permit for 15 years...sheesh...claims he can't pass the test (which is pretty simple).

That's cool. The figure 8 beat me up, too during practice, but somehow on the test I did it right and stayed in the lines without putting my foot down.

On my Mod 2, the instructor told me to turn at the next right. So I did. He then apologised for sending me up a dead-end, and it should have been the next right. Certainly didn't chat to me about having it in the bag, or chat to me at all in fact, unlike on my Mod 1 where the guy was over chatty. Same good result.
