Why Not To Be A Dick On A Motorbike

If your gonna have a go at someone for being on their phone do be warned you may just have annoyed a nutta.

IMHO

A lot of negativity with this one is because the swearing and acting a bit righteous and what looked like to me brake checking after the junction.
While calling someone out on their phone is all well and good, do it in the correct way. If a driver is being aggressive get out the way or just leave em behind your on a bike ffs.
He most definitely didn't deserve to be knocked off but at the same time he put himself into that situation. For example would you go up to a big guy in a bar and cuss at him then calmly and slowly walk off?

If you ride and act aggressively this is an inevitable outcome.

Vulnerable people such as motorbike riders need to wake up and stop putting themselves in danger.

Having said all of that the BMW driver is a prize **** and I hope he gets a lot of time to think about his actions in prison.

I actually don't see the brake checking. It feels like nervous "shit, how close is this guy behind me?" riding.
To me, as well, the swearing is justifiable. But then, I'm Scottish and swearing is like punctuation. It comes across as a frustrated outburst and makes me wonder what the driver have been like before the video starts.

He held him up at the lights.
Cars overtook him and a good guesstimate of 10mph
He swore at him when a firm 'word' could have worked better
He was revving or slipping gears which slowed traffic down

Don't get me wrong. He didn't deserve to get hit but if you're going to piss people off, be 100% sure you can deal with it.

Very well said, guys.

There's already so many things a motorcyclist needs to look out for without adding to that list themselves. I reckon if you're being pestered by some unbalanced fool, get out of their way and let them go.

I’m a strong believer in it’s not what you do or don’t do, it’s how you go about it....

Clearly in this case that was the wrong way, id always rather be behind the jackass than In front of them, as far back as I can be.

it it however very easy to get wrapped up in the moment

I'd of never put myself in the position of being in front of someone I'd insulted. You never know who's behind the wheel and what they're capable of.

He didn't deserve it as nobody deserves to get knocked off but the rider did f'all to reduce the danger. Some people need to learn to let things go and put themselves out of danger.

That said the car driver is a clear psycho dick who deserves whats coming to him. Hopefully one of those wonderfully long American prison sentences.

Shouldnt act like a child,

Always expect people to react aggressively when you curse at them and brake infront of them.

This guy seems like a bit of a douche

Like what you all have said, this guy didn't "deserve" to get knocked down by the BMW... but you can't stick your head in the mouth of a lion if you aren't prepared for the consequences.

What that video doesn't show, however, is what, if anything, lead up to the motorcycle rider to confront the guy at the light. Curious if the BMW driver pulled out in front of him, or cut him off to make the rider get caught up in the moment.

Yeah, you just never know when you are going to cross paths with someone who has had a way worse day than you, and the outcome can be so unpredictable.

And I quote (form his crowdsource page thing)

"'Yes... I record every single time I hop on my motorcycle. Any smart rider does. I've been hit several times before. I've had several experiences with hit-and-runs (where I couldn't identify the driver) as well as other drivers simply lying through their teeth. I use a camera on every ride to protect myself in incidents such as this.' "

I'll say it how it is. That's based on my own experiences being a rider in the UK

If you're forever having issues with drivers and more than the odd near miss, it may not be the other people causing it!!

Yea, some people are just unlucky but come on...

The odd close call tou can put down to misfortune, claiming you've been in a number of incidents should ring a bell that maybe, just maybe, there's something you could probably do a little bit different...

You know what I think this may have been a set up video... if you look into the background of it. The guy seems to be loaded not a poor boy with no dosh. Time will tell...

Copy paste of my comment I posted on that video:

First: That driver better get his comeuppance. No matter what someone might do or say it's hardly grounds for assault with a deadly weapon.

Second: You are a moron. You fault a driver at the ONE place he can dick around with a phone and not harm a soul. The worst he can do is sit trough a portion of the light. However, it does in no way justify what happened to you after the encounter.

Both are at fault in that situation, but being a biker, the danger is greater, should have not tried to face-off with the cager that way. Hope he learned from that.

Makes you think about the safety of some motovloggers that make this a mission. One thing I'm not surprised about is that this happened in the US.

Yeah the motorcycle guy was a bit of a douche to the person but nothing, absolutely nothing deserves being run over. It's just words.

No problem with flipping someone off at the lights for using their phone.

But...

1. if you are going to filter to the front, you should have the decency when moving to get out of the way either by using speed or using the lanes properly
2. he hogs the outside lane at slow speed in a deliberate attempt to further annoy the driver instead of pulling in to the inside lane
3. his riding line is on the inside of the outside lane in an attempt to get the car driver to try to overtake
4. he appears to move out towards the centre of his lane just as the car is about to go past in an attempt to block the car driver's overtake. Epic fail.

There is just so much wrong with this video. And the rider.
