Hello, I was talking to one of my friends about riding motorcylces and all that and he knows that I want to buy one. His friend is selling an R6. The only problem is that there is a gash in the motor. Now, this is an easy fix, I have a friend that welds and he would just weld it back into "brand new" shape so its ride able. ( i know it cant be back to brand new lol ). The bike runs, but it just leaks oil. The guy is selling it for 1500$ Now, for an R6 this is pretty good ( or so i think ) and this would also be my first bike. Now, I would get an R6 for 1500 and have a weld job done to it to be fixed.

Should I resell the bike for a profit? Or should I possibly get a restriction kit for it and ride that bike? It sounds like a good deal to me but I would like to hear some other opinions incase maybe I overlooked something, thanks!

Me personally I wouldn't buy it, especially if your looking to ride it. Like how did the engine get a gash in it did it go for a slide into a guard rail or something? To me it seems to be pretty much a parts bike unless you can get your hands on another engine for cheap, and know how to do the work on the bike yourself.

I would buy it, get my friend to weld it, and then resell it. I feel I could turn it around for a good ish profit. Maybe buy at 1500 and sell at 2500
EDIT: Someone else just bought the bike xD fml oh well :D Gotta keep looking

Where is the gash? Most things can be fixed for the right price with ease.

The question is, do you have the knowledge to fix?

Do you think you can fix it well enough for a potential buyer not to spot the fix?

It sounds very cheap, you could fix it and sell as a track bike
