Making "music" Videos

Let's talk about copyright policies on youtube. Those who make music videos and use popular music how do you go about doing so?

My experience has been, monetized or not, I get a CONTENT ID MATCH as expected. Monetization isn't much of a concern for me on those vids, it's the notifications of CONTENT ID MATCH. I don't want to accumulate too many of them. And I certainly don't want them to turn into a COPYRIGHT STIKE and get shut down.

I'm just curious how people like DankWheelie and SaltxThexWound who make tons of them. ChaseOnTwoWheels does one every few weeks. I'm not sure it's luck, since they sniff out the songs as soon as you upload in my past 4 experiences.

You can use any music, but you cant monetise it. When it comes up with content id match, you just click acknowledge. The only thing that happens its that the copyright owner monetises your video. You dont get a strike for this.

Or they can take down your video if they want to.

When signed into YouTube, click on your icon (upper right), then click on Creator Studio, then click Create (lower left), then Ad-Supported Music.
There's the list of music you are allowed to use without monetization, plus any restrictions, such as countries in which your video will be blocked.
I made a video explaining it in a bit more detail, but you'll have to look for it as I'm not posting a link on here.
I recently posted a music video and chose the music partly because the blocked countries were 8 tiny islands scattered around the globe. Once uploaded it was also blocked in Australia and NZ, so you can't really trust YouTube on that count.

Maybe they can, but ive never had it happen and ive got a hundred private family videos that all use mainstream popular music and a few listed ones also. Many have been "blocked in germany" and a few other countries, but never one taken down. Of course none of them can be monetised, yet most have ads running, monetised by the publisher.... which doesnt do them much good because only the kids and grandparents watch them, probably a total on 10 views!
