Sena Smh10 With Sena Audio Pack Quality

Hey guys, like what my title says im using sena audio pack with gopro hero 3. And after 4 days of recording and mutiple different mic placement, even firmware update. I find that the voice quality is excelent but suffers on picking up ambient noise. I could barely hear my exhaust. Im unhappy with it considering i spent top $ for it.

Just wondering what type of audio set up and equipment is everyone using?

Ive got a cheap ebay mic on its way but i was really hope to upload my first motovlog this weekend.

I dont think i will be uploading this weeks footage due to poor audio quality.

Zoom H2N for me.

It's best to completely ignore camera audio if you want high quality audio. It is fine for most generic vlogs though.

Depends on your bike too. Stock exhausts (in Europe) have to meet noise regs. Decent mucs can reject some audio levels, so a super cheap one might help, but you're best with a recorder in your pocket to get ambient, then it's not wedged behind lots of blocking foam.

Thats an interesting advice. Might just work. but i think for this week ill try using 2 cameras and place my second camera behind my windscreen to reduce wind noise. see how it turns out. its just more editing involved.

where i live in canada, noise regulations laws are under municipals jurisdiction and is rarely inforced.

Wow @SwissMotard. Did some research on that zoon h2n. Comes with a hefty price. Ranges from $160 to over $200. I guess you get what you pay for.
I paid £85 for mine last year.

There are much cheaper options but they won't allow you to record from the audio device itself and a mic simultaneously.

Using the standard drift mic

Isnt the point of the Sena to block out noise? I mean its really just a phone attachment in the end

Yea i think ill have to try that. I agree, ambient noise gives it character and emotion.

Just a learning curve i guess.

I have to agree. There are a couple of guys I watched who swapped to Sena...its very weird to watch and listen to someone ride a bike but not hear a damn thing. Throws me off.

On the Sena backpack has mics on it if you flip the switch you might be able to pick up more ambient noise, but it might be too much.

I use this exact set up and I like the results, but yeah you don't get much ambient noise.
