Guide To Filtering

Started off thinking what a chop.

But he is actually doing a good job,

When the cars dont have a chance to swop lanes and do stupid car things, He goes faster (sometimes a little too fast)
but when there are gaps between , he slows down
the speeds around 5min are a big high, But that could just be me

I have tons of footage of lane filtering and it always looks a lot faster than what it actually is.
One curious fact to remember is that 60 mph is exactly 88 feet per second.
He is going past 40ft container lorries in just over a second most of the time... so he is ranging between 25 - 35 miles an hour I would say.
He should meet the boys who do the trip up the A2 to London everyday, they go over 40 Mph....Mad Bastards.....
Me ? I try not to do more than 15 - 20 mph faster than the traffic I am filtering through....

There's bits where he's doing considerable speeds. More than 30 IMO.
Hey Lurch, yeah your probably right...but only for a few seconds and no more than 40 IMO.... as I said it can be very deceiving from the cameras perspective. I remember the first filtering video I put up and my brother calling me up telling me I was going to get myself killed.... he reckoned I was doing about 60 between stationary traffic when in fact I was only doing approx. 28. Had to show him the unedited version which picked up the speedo before he believed me....:D

Hehe! I do like to crack on when filtering, but I have a limit, and I have been accused of filtering too fast before.

Well, you have to balance it against is it better to pass that truck at this moment or hold back until a safer opportunity presents itself. When you do pass, you should consider that the situation could change. Not saying you can't pass at any given speed, and it's not so much what happens when you pass the truck, it's what you can't see that's thinking of changing lanes when you come out from between the trucks.

by all means that is true.... but the time spent next to the truck needs to be as low as possible... so screaming past him isnt a bad thing

The time honoured phrase is ride appropriate to the conditions. Each and every situation is different.
